According to the historical archive, the first establishment of KULN was detected in 1956 in New York, United States; a year before the independence of Malaya. The main objective of this club is to unite Malays that were residing and studying there, far away from our homeland. However, the establishment of KULN was only officially documented in detail and began active operation in United Kingdom i
n the year 1968 with the same objective of uniting Malays overseas. As time passed by, KULN starts catering the needs of Malaysians’ whom were residing overseas regardless of their race and religion. From there, KULN continue to grow in other emerging hubs of international education and work. With only 32 clubs until October 2010, KULN has now reached a number of 72 clubs in total, working actively in 18 countries worldwide with more than 14,000 members. Recently, KULN has been expanding in European countries such as Germany, France, Switzerland and many more. With this continuous expansion, the National Supreme Council is created to monitor activities of KULN. This was done under the Special Affairs Committee of Overseas Students. At first, the committee was chaired by Tan Sri Megat Junid Megat Ayob. The position was then passed on to Dato’ Seri Mohd Shafie Haji Afdal followed by Dato’ Seri Shabery Cheek. Now, the position was held by Datuk Seri Reezal Merican bin Naina Merican. KULN now has our own secretariat to manage activities of the many clubs. They are based in Suite 3.2, Level 5, Menara Dato ‘Onn, Kuala Lumpur. The secretariat are working according to different zones all over the world in order to maintain efficiency of the management and successful communication.
