2026 CNY & Raya Makan-Makan
------------------------------------

Following the AGM on 24 April 2026, we held our 2026 CNY & Raya Makan-Makan celebration at the historic Royal Selangor Club, Dataran Merdeka.

The event was attended by over 90 MBS members and guests. We were deeply honoured by the presence of our Royal Patrons, YAM Tunku Naquiyuddin and YAM Tunku Imran, alongside MBS Member Tan Sri VC George and Marie-Claire Joyce, the new Political Counsellor from the British High Commission.

It was also a significant evening for our charitable initiatives. We were pleased to present the final of our three charity cheques, for RM12,500, to SportExcel. The cheque was graciously received by YAM Tunku Imran.

We also had the pleasure of receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from Edwin Roch of Rumah Hope, in recognition of our earlier RM12,500 donation. These contributions, along with a third RM12,500 donation presented to YAM Tunku Zain of the IDEAS Autism Centre earlier this year, were made possible by the proceeds from our Christmas Charity Ball in December 2025.

A huge thank you to all our members whose generosity continues to support such worthy causes across Malaysia!

We had the absolute privilege of meeting the Royal Malaysia Police Ladies Rugby Team – the Lady Blues at the KL Rugby event this weekend!

Not only are they an incredible force on the field, tough, dynamic, and full of spirit but they also carry themselves as true ambassadors of the police force, showing the same discipline, teamwork, and dedication that makes them stand out in service and in sport.

A big thank you to the Lady Blues for stopping by the Malaysian British Society (MBS) booth to take a photo with us and share a moment of camaraderie. 🙌

Your energy and passion inspire us all. Keep flying the flag high for both rugby and the force! 💪💙

Selamat Hari Merdeka! 🇲🇾 From all of us at MBS and Lady Blues, PDRM Women Rugby

This is the correct introduction:
Tan Sri Dato' V. C. George is a distinguished retired Malaysian judge and legal luminary, celebrated for his brilliant judicial career and sharp wit. Born in 1930, he began as a lawyer before being invited to be a High Court Judge in 1980 and went on to be appointed a Court of Appeal Judge in 1994. His landmark judgments were mostly commercial cases, including in intellectual property law, earning him widespread respect. He also notably decided that Lim Kit Siang as then Leader of the Opposition had llocus standi to bring an action against United Engineers (M) Bhd and the Government of Malaysia.
After retiring from the Bench, Tan Sri George was in demand as a domestic and international arbitrator.

Beyond his legal acumen, Tan Sri is renowned for his humour and storytelling, captivating audiences with witty anecdotes and insightful remarks. His speeches, whether in court or in social gatherings, often blend wisdom with lighthearted charm.

Active in legal reform, he served as President of the Malaysian Bar (1974 - 1976) and was honoured with the titles Tan Sri (Federal) and Dato (Selangor).
He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Bar Council in 2017.
He was also President of the Royal Selangor Club for two terms.
Tan Sri Dato' V. C. George’s legacy is one of integrity, intellect, and infectious humour—a true icon of Malaysia’s judiciary. And a proud member of the MBS
