JOHOR BAHRU, 11 May 2026 — The Johor Office of the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) received a courtesy call from the Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC). The delegation was led by YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, General Manager of VTAREC, who paid a courtesy call on YBrs Tuan Nazrul Zafiri Mohd Nazri, Director of the Compliance and Performance Monitoring Division, Johor Bahru.

During the meeting, YBrs Puan Mas Tina shared insights into VTAREC’s mission and its pivotal role in combating vehicle theft in Malaysia. She highlighted the organisation’s close collaboration with strategic stakeholders in implementing nationwide initiatives aimed at curbing vehicle theft, which have contributed to significant reductions in crime rates and marked an important national achievement. She also outlined VTAREC’s expanding role in supporting efforts to reduce road traffic accidents across the country.

YBrs Tuan Nazrul, meanwhile, elaborated on APAD’s mandate and its ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with road transport laws and regulations, particularly among commercial vehicle operators and drivers. He noted that VTAREC’s objectives are closely aligned with APAD’s mission, opening avenues for meaningful collaboration between the two organisations. Also in attendance were YBrs Tuan Sulaiman Azhar Halpi, Head of the Suspension and Revocation Unit and YBrs Puan Nurulhuda Harun, Principal Assistant Director of APAD’s Southern Regional Office. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing optimism and enthusiasm towards establishing future strategic collaboration.

JOHOR BAHRU, 11 May 2026 – YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, General Manager of the Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC), delivered an impactful speech on the issue of vehicle theft crimes potentially contributing to road accidents in Malaysia, held in conjunction with 2026 Industry, Transportation and Logistics Seminar.

The event was organised by Persatuan Pengusaha Pengangkutan & Logistik Johor (JoTran) and officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Anthony Loke, Minister of Transport Malaysia. Johor Bahru, 29 April 2026: The Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC) led by YBrs Puan Mas Tina binti Abdul Hamid, General Manager of VTAREC paid a courtesy call on YDH CP Datuk Ab Rahaman bin Arsad, Ketua Polis Johor at Ibu Pejabat Polis Kontinjen Johor to formally introduce the Council and foster closer ties. The meeting was conducted in a warm and respectful atmosphere, reflecting the shared commitment of both parties to build a strong working relationship.

Kuala Lumpur, 16.4.2026: The Office Warming and Jamuan Hari Raya at Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC)’ office was warmly hosted by Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, General Manager of VTAREC together with the VTAREC management and staff. The event brought together valued guests and partners in a meaningful celebration of collaboration and festive spirit.

Among those in attendance were YBhg Datuk Lokman Jamaan, Chairman of VTAREC, YBhg Dato’ Ooi Win Juat, Director of VTAREC, Encik Ts Ahmad Saife Salleh, Pegawai Penyelidik MIROS, Mr Chua Kim Soon, CEO of PIAM, Encik Mohd Radzuan Mohamed, CEO of MTA, Cik Noorly Abu Zarim, Manager/Secretary of MIB, Puan Shazlyna Abdullah, Executive Secretary of MTA, Mr William Tan, Asst General Manager of PIAM, Mr Jegatheesan Govintharaj, Asst General Manager of PIAM and along with staff from PIAM, MTA, and MIB. Their presence added great significance to the occasion and reflected strong industry camaraderie and support.

Earlier, VTAREC also hosted a 30-minute Facebook Live session titled “Fokus di Jalan, Bukan di Telefon, Gunakan Bluetooth,” promoting safe driving habits and responsible road usage. The programme was further highlighted by a Mini Pledge Wall, where attendees pledged their commitment to road safety and to avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving.

VTAREC extends its sincere appreciation to all guests for their presence and continued support, making the event both meaningful and impactful in strengthening relationships and road safety awareness.

VTAREC 30 Minutes FB Live “FOKUS DI JALAN, BUKAN DI TELEFON, GUNAKAN BLUETOOTH”

Kuala Lumpur, 16 April 2026: Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia with the co-operation of Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) successfully held the VTAREC 30 Minutes FB Live, entitled ““FOKUS DI JALAN, BUKAN DI TELEFON, GUNAKAN BLUETOOTH”.

The talk emphasised the importance of maintaining full focus while driving and promoting Bluetooth technology as a safer alternative to mobile phone use. The session was moderated by YBrs Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, VTAREC General Manager, who welcomed viewers and explained the general Bluetooth function where it is a wireless technology for short-distance communication. Examples include connecting a handphone to earphones, transferring files and photos between devices and linking devices such as a mouse or keyboard. YBrs Puan Mas Tina noted that the focus of this FB Live session was on the use of Bluetooth in cars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles.

The panel featured YBhg Leftenan Kolonel (PAB) Dato’ Ooi Win Juat from VTAREC and YBrs Ts Encik Ahmad Saife bin Salleh from MIROS. YBhg Dato’ Ooi stressed the importance of keeping the mind, hands and eyes on the road to ensure quick reaction and avoid distractions.

YBrs Encik Saife explained that Bluetooth enables hands-free communication, allowing drivers to stay connected safely. Both panellists also addressed various questions from the audience.

The session concluded with a clear message: focus on driving, not your phone.

18 March 2026: Telah berlangsung sesi VTAREC 30 Minutes FB Live bertajuk “Tidak Menggunakan Telefon Bimbit Semasa Memandu”, yang dianjurkan oleh Vehicle Theft and Accident Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTAREC) bersempena dengan Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026. Sesi ini menampilkan Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid, Ko-ordinator VTAREC sebagai Moderator bersama Panelis yang terdiri daripada:

Tujuan utama VTAREC 30 Minutes FB Live ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kesedaran pemandu tentang bahaya penggunaan telefon bimbit ketika memandu, khususnya ketika musim perayaan. Pelbagai isu telah dibincangkan, antaranya penggunaan navigator sewaktu memandu, menjawab panggilan telefon, menghantar mesej, bermain “game” dalam telefon, dan menonton video sewaktu memandu, kesemuanya boleh menjejaskan fokus pemandu dan meningkatkan risiko kemalangan.

Puan Mas Tina Abdul Hamid memaklumkan bahawa berjuta kenderaan akan berada di atas jalan raya sempena musim perayaan ini dan risiko kemalangan jalan raya juga turut meningkat. Menggunakan telefon bimbit dalam situasi begini Adalah factor pengganda risiko. Satu kesilapan kecil boleh mencetuskan kemalangan. Dalam sesi soal jawab, kepada pertanyaan adakah “hands-free” benar-benar selamat digunakan semasa memandu? Puan Mas Tina memaklumkan bahawa penggunaan “handsfree” bukanlah “risk-free” bebas risiko. Kita kena bezakan antara “hands-free” dan “mind-free”. Pemandu perlu sedar bahawa melakukan lebih daripada satu tugas semasa memandu boleh menjadi “risk-tasking”, yang secara langsung menjejaskan keselamatan pemanduan. Memandu tidak boleh “multi-taksking”. 1–2 saat hilang fokus pun boleh jadi sangat mahal harganya. Telefon bimbit mungkin ‘hands-free’ tapi cognitive dan pemikiran kita masih ‘busy’. Maka, “hands-free” mungkin kurangkan risiko, tetapi tidak menghapuskan risiko.

Tuan ACP Foo Chek Seng daripada PDRM menekankan beberapa aspek penting, antaranya:
• Tingkah laku pemandu sendiri adalah faktor utama keselamatan.
• Apabila sebelah tangan memegang telefon manakala tangan satu lagi memegang stereng, stabiliti stereng boleh hilang sehingga 50%, menjejaskan kawalan kenderaan.
• Menjawab panggilan telefon boleh mengalih fokus daripada jalan raya apatah lagi berkaitan hal yang membawa keadaan marah.
• Pemandu harus mengutamakan etika berkongsi jalan raya dan sedar akan tanggungjawab untuk tidak menjadi “pembunuh” di atas jalan raya.

Sementara itu, YBrs Puan Suhaily Md Noh daripada MTA memberi perkongsian bahawa:
• Pemandu perlu berperilaku baik semasa memandu, mematuhi undang-undang, kekal focus semasa memandu, terutama semasa musim perayaan.
• Perlu sentiasa beringat tentang keselamatan diri, penumpang dan pihak ketiga yang berada di atas jalan raya.
• Jika didapati menggunakaan telefon bimbit secara salah dan terlibat dalam kemalangan, pihak insurans boleh berpotensi tidak membayar tuntutan dan loading berkemungkinan akan dikenakan kepada pemandu yang berisiko.
• Sentiasa waspada dan beringat, sekiranya kemalangan berlaku, “siapa yang akan membayar kos-kos yang terlibat semasa kemalangan seperti kecederan tubuh badan, kenderaan, pihak ketiga atau paling teruk jika kematian”

Kesimpulannya, VTAREC 30 Minutes FB Live ini memberikan panduan praktikal dan kesedaran kritikal tentang keselamatan jalan raya, menekankan bahawa memandu memerlukan kepintaran dan tumpuan, bukan telefon bimbit. Pemandu digalakkan untuk mengamalkan prinsip .DontText.Drive.Repeat, demi keselamatan diri, penumpang dan orang lain di jalan raya.
