Happy 128th Philippine Independence Day!

Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of the Filipino people who fought for our freedom. As we celebrate our nation’s independence, may we continue to uphold the values of unity, resilience, compassion, and service to others.

As veterinary technologists, nurses, and assistants, we contribute to nation-building through our commitment to animal welfare, public health, and community service.

Let us take pride in our heritage and work together toward a stronger, healthier, and more compassionate Philippines.

Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! 🇵🇭

When the earth trembled, so did lives.
Lives were shaken in seconds. Homes, schools, hope. But hearts don't have to break alone. Be the shelter for the families affected by the 7.8 magnitude mindanao earthquake.

Initiated by University of Southern Mindanao (USM) through the efforts and collaboration of the Extension Services Office (ESO), National Service Training Program (NSTP), and University Volunteers’ Club (UVC), this drive is led by the Society for the Advancement of Veterinary Education and Research.
We strive for Professionalism, Excellence, and Brotherhood, and today, brotherhood means showing up.

How to donate:
Account number: +639468352170
Account name: Krys Joseph V.
What to donate: clothes, food, medicine, hygiene kits

Updates will be given on the relief packs sent to the victims of the affected cities in Sarangani and South Cotabato.

No amount is small when it’s given with love.
Every peso becomes food, water, medicine, and a blanket for families rebuilding.
Every peso rebuilds, every share spreads help. Let our action speak. Let's be the help.

PRAY FOR MINDANAO

Our hearts and prayers are with everyone affected by the recent earthquake in Mindanao.

As an organization where more than half of our members come from Mindanao, this tragedy hits close to home. We stand in solidarity with our fellow veterinary technologists, veterinary nurses, their families, and the communities facing this difficult time.

May we find strength in unity, hope in compassion, and comfort in knowing that we are not alone. Let us continue to pray for the safety of those affected, for the protection of rescue and response teams, and for the swift recovery of all impacted areas.

Together, let us extend kindness, support, and prayers to our brothers and sisters in Mindanao.

NUTRITION MATH 101: Because Every Calorie Counts!

Understanding pet nutrition goes beyond reading the label — it’s about knowing how to calculate the right amount, compare diets properly, and create healthier feeding plans for every patient.

From calculating Daily Energy Requirements (DER) and calorie intake, to comparing nutrients on a caloric basis and estimating carbohydrates, these guides help veterinary professionals make smarter, evidence-based nutrition decisions.

Proper nutrition calculations can help support:
✔️ Healthy weight management
✔️ Better digestion and energy balance
✔️ Disease prevention and recovery
✔️ Longer, healthier, and happier lives for pets

As veterinary nurses, veterinary technologists, and animal health advocates, accurate nutrition education is part of improving patient care every single day. 🐾

Topics Covered:
🔹 Daily Calorie Requirement (DCR)
🔹 Calories from Food & Treats
🔹 Feeding Amount Calculations
🔹 Nutrient Comparison on a Caloric Basis
🔹 Estimated Carbohydrate Content
🔹 Weight Loss Calorie Reduction

Better calculations = Better nutrition = Better patient outcomes.
