Rotary Without Borders
RC Sentul's Historic Fellowship Journey to Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta, June 29, 2025
In a world increasingly divided by geografical and political borders, Rotary proves that true fellowship without border. From Kuala Lumpur to Yogyakarta, a powerful example of cross-cultural unity from Rotary Club of Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, embarked on a meaningful visit to Yogyakarta, Indonesia from June 23 to July 1, 2025.
The club visit, composed of five Rotarians and four family members, was warmly received by their Rotary friends from Rotary Club of Jogja Istimewa, affirming Rotary’s role as a global connector and builder of lasting relationships.
A Friendship Sparked Over Coffee in Kuala Lumpur
What started as a simple meeting turned into a spark of something greater. Just a month earlier, Past President Dewi Agustina of RC Jogja Istimewa visited Kuala Lumpur and met IAG Kesavan of RC Sentul. That encounter planted the seeds of fellowship, mutual respect, and shared service—seeds that soon blossomed into a cross-border partnership.
The highlight of the visit was the Presidential Handover Ceremony of RC Sentul, held not in their home country, but symbolically hosted in Yogyakarta at the Jambuluwuk Hotel, Batik Lounge on June 29, 2025, from 07.00 pm till 10.00 pm, ended by joyful fellowship at the Jambuluwuk Mexican Bar.
The event was further elevated by the presence of PDG Keliek J. Soegiarto, founder of RC Jogja Istimewa and former District Governor of District 3400 ( 2008–2009 ). His attendance brought historical weight and moral leadership to the occasion.
Symbols of Unity: Banners, Pins, and a Proposal
In a heartfelt gesture, PP Dewi presented the RC Jogja Istimewa banner to President PP Dr Sivaneswaran of RC Sentul, a symbol of unity and shared purpose. The banner of RC.Jogja Istimewa shows the imaginary axis of Yogyakarta, a sacred blueprint for life, teaching that true prosperity comes from respecting nature, honoring heritage, and seeking balance in all thing
