Kechara Soup Kitchen Society is a non-religious, tax-exempt NGO serving Malaysia’s urban poor, Orang Asli, and homeless for over 17 years through our Food Bank, Empowerment, and Soup Kitchen programmes. Kechara Soup Kitchen Society (KSK Society) has been serving marginalised communities in Malaysia for over 17 years as a tax-exempt non-governmental organisation (NGO). To support these vulnerable g

roups, we operate Food Bank, Empowerment, and Soup Kitchen programmes. We are a non-religious organisation and provide assistance without discrimination.

20 urban poor families at KSK Melaka received regular dry provisions, ensuring continued support for their daily food needs and household essentials.

A big thank you to Hong Leong Bank volunteers, KSK Melaka volunteers, and staff for an awesome pre-Mother’s Day activity 😊 Your time, effort, and compassion made a meaningful difference. Together, we supported approximately 100 individuals on a Saturday, bringing not just aid but also care, connection, and dignity to the community.

Every contribution, big or small, helps us continue reaching those in need and strengthening community support on the ground. Thank you for being part of this journey with us. 💛

Today, we celebrate the incredible mothers who inspire us every single day through their unconditional love, endless sacrifices, strength, and compassion. ❤️

At Kechara Soup Kitchen, we are especially grateful to the many mothers amongst our volunteers, staff, and beneficiaries who continue to uplift families and communities despite life’s challenges.

Through our Empowerment Programme, we have witnessed the resilience of many single mothers who are courageously rebuilding their lives through baking and skills training — creating brighter futures not only for themselves, but also for their children.

To all mothers, thank you for being the heart of our homes and communities. Your love and perseverance continue to inspire us all.

KSK's Food Mission 2026 to the Orang Asli kicked-off in Gombak yesterday, reaching Kg. Gombak Batu 12, Kg. Gombak Batu 16, & Kg. Orang Asli Sungai Relang - powered by our staff, volunteers, and the communities themselves who rolled up their sleeves alongside us.

None of this happens without YOU. To every donor and sponsor who believed in this mission, your generosity is what puts food on the table, literally. Since 2021, you've shown up for Orang Asli communities across Peninsula Malaysia, and you're doing it again.

This is only the beginning. More Food Mission 2026 distributions are underway. Stay tuned. ❤️

🌟 Marriott International Road To Give 2025 🌟

On 30th March 2025, Marriott International proudly chose Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK) as their charity partner of the year, supported through their annual internal fundraising.

After months of planning and refinement, the donation handover was held, attended by all General Managers of Malaysia, who are excited to support KSK long term.

Marriott also supported Zero Food Wastage initiatives during Ramadan, reinforcing their commitment to community and sustainability.

A major milestone for us — we are now officially a Certified Member of The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN)!

Last week, we had the honour of welcoming Mr. Craig Nemitz, Director of Compliance at The Global FoodBanking Network, to our food bank facilities for a long-awaited certification audit.

This certification process was originally planned years ago following our induction into GFN in 2018, but was delayed due to various challenges — including the impact of the pandemic.

Today, we are proud to share that we have successfully obtained our certification, meeting all 11 mandatory compliance criteria, including key areas such as governance, fiscal transparency, inventory record management, and most importantly, food safety — where we performed exceptionally well.

This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our operations team, who have upheld strong compliance standards behind the scenes for many years.

We hope this milestone will inspire more corporates, food manufacturers, and partners to join us in reducing food waste while helping communities facing hunger and poverty.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. This certification belongs to all of us!

Celebrating 15 years of partnership and community impact 💛

For the past 15 years, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur to serve communities in need — and what a meaningful journey it has been!

What started with simple meal servings from their kitchen grew into something much bigger. Over the years, more properties under Marriott International came on board to support our cause — from participating in our annual Ramadan buffet food rescue initiative, to preparing additional meals for urban poor families living in PPR communities, most recently, donating us a chiller truck!

Together, we’ve reached countless individuals and families, and we look back with deep gratitude for the memories created and the impact made through this long-standing collaboration.

Earlier this week, we were honoured to welcome Mr Michael Delargy (General Manager) and Ms Jaclyn Low (Director of Human Resources) from Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur to our soup kitchen to commemorate this special milestone. Our General Manager, Justin Cheah, together with our team, was also present to celebrate the occasion.

And in true spirit of sharing — the anniversary cake didn’t go to waste either. It was shared with our clients and enjoyed together 🍰

Thank you, Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur, for 15 years of compassion, partnership, and making a real difference in our community. Here’s to many more meaningful years ahead.
