The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) extends its deepest condolences on the passing of Allahyarham Datuk Wira Hj. Shahrul Azuwar bin Abdul Aziz, Member of the MRCS National Governing Board and Chairman of the MRCS Melaka Chapter, on 9 October 2026.

His dedication, leadership and contributions to the humanitarian mission of the MRC will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his family, loved ones and colleagues during this difficult time.

May Allah SWT grant him His mercy, forgive his shortcomings and place him among the righteous.

On 18, 19 and 28 September 2026, the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC), with support from Malaysia-UN SDG Trust Fund and in collaboration with the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA), conducted Health Outreach Services (Mobile Clinics) in Kota Bharu, Kelantan and Yan, Kedah, reaching a total of 136 people.

Supported by 34 volunteers, the mobile clinics brought essential healthcare services closer to communities, helping improve access to care for those in need.

These efforts reflect MRCโ€™s continued commitment to strengthening community health, resilience and access to humanitarian support across communities in need.

The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) participated in the 23rd Southeast Asia Red Cross and Red Crescent Leaders Meeting in Yangon, Myanmar, from 7 to 9 September 2026, hosted by the Myanmar Red Cross Society, alongside the SEA Red Cross and Red Crescent Humanitarian Forum and the 5th SEA Red Cross and Red Crescent Youth Forum.

Representing MRC were Muhammad Ayisy Baharudin, Treasurer of the National Youth Council and Co-Chair of SEAYN; Alexander Irvin Joseph, MRC Sabah Youth Committee Chairperson; and Mimie Zalia Mahdzhir, Youth Officer.

The 5th SEA Youth Forum provided a platform for young representatives across Southeast Asia to review progress since the Kuala Lumpur Youth Outcome Statement, identify shared priorities and develop solution-oriented ideas. These discussions contributed to the Yangon Youth Statement, which was subsequently brought into dialogue with National Society leaders.

Through youth-led discussions and intergenerational dialogue, MRC continues to support meaningful youth participation, regional cooperation and stronger humanitarian action across Southeast Asia.

The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) participated in the 23rd Southeast Asia Red Cross and Red Crescent Leaders Meeting, held in Yangon from 7โ€“9 September 2026 and hosted by the Myanmar Red Cross Society.

The meeting was held alongside the SEA Red Cross and Red Crescent Humanitarian Forum and the 5th SEA Red Cross and Red Crescent Youth Forum, with the participation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The MRC delegation was led by YTM Dato' Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, Tunku Temenggong Kedah, National Chairperson of the MRC.

Bringing together Red Cross and Red Crescent leaders and young volunteers from across Southeast Asia, the meetings provided a platform to exchange experiences, discuss shared humanitarian priorities and strengthen ties among National Societies across the region.

The adoption of the Yangon Statement and Yangon Youth Statement reflects our collective commitment to closer collaboration and meaningful youth participation in shaping humanitarian action. These commitments reaffirm the importance of ensuring that our work remains relevant, responsive and grounded in the needs of the communities we serve.

The continued engagement among Southeast Asian National Societies demonstrates the value of coming together as a region, sharing knowledge and experience and turning shared priorities into practical humanitarian action.

MRC remains committed to contributing to regional cooperation and working alongside National Societies across Southeast Asia to strengthen humanitarian action and build more resilient communities.

The Malaysian Red Crescent is deeply saddened by the passing of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, a distinguished physician and respected Malaysian public figure who dedicated her life to health, community well-being and service to the nation.

Throughout her remarkable life, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah made significant contributions to public health, particularly in advancing the well-being of women, children and families. Her compassion, dedication and lifelong commitment to serving others have left an enduring legacy for generations of Malaysians.

The leadership and members of the Malaysian Red Crescent extend our heartfelt condolences to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the entire family during this time of profound loss.
