The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) participated in the IOM Regional Knowledge Exchange on Climate Mobility, held in Bangkok from 10 to 11 August 2026, bringing together regional stakeholders to strengthen cooperation and knowledge-sharing on climate-related mobility and resilience.
Representing MRC, Ms. Anisa Mohamed Ismail, Acting Deputy Secretary General, moderated a session on Community Perspectives and Inclusive Responses to Climate Mobility and contributed as a panellist on regional climate mobility challenges, evidence, implementation and financing.
In her contributions, Ms. Anisa highlighted the need to recognise climate change as a risk multiplier that can deepen existing vulnerabilities, while repeated climate-related shocks can further undermine communitiesโ capacity to recover. She also emphasised the importance of people-centred approaches that enable communities to remain safely where possible, move safely and with dignity when necessary, and recover and return when conditions allow.
Through continued regional collaboration, MRC remains committed to supporting inclusive, community-centred approaches that strengthen resilience and protect people affected by climate-related risks.
