Rumah Titian Kasih (RTK) is a Non-Governmental Organisation. RTK was established in 1998 and the sole purpose of this organisation is to give shelter and protection for the :
1) ORPHANS
2) ABANDONED CHILDREN
3) OLD FOLKS
4) PENNILESS & POVERTY-STRICKEN
PEOPLE
5) DISABLED CHILDREN & ADULTS
6) R**E VICTIMS
7) DOMESTICALLY ABUSED SINGLE
MOTHERS
RTK obtains money for their daily expe
nses in order to accommodate the occupants of their shelter home, through the sale bakery products, handicrafts,catering services,stitching and through some donations from the public. The current amount of occupants of the RTK shelter home is around :
1) 95 Children
2) 20 Disabled people and Old Folks
3) 19 Domestically Abused Single Mothers
However, the number of the occupants is not static and changes from time to time. Most of the occupants of this shelter home are victims of :
Domestic Abuse, Troubled and Socially Affected Youths as well as Abandoned Children. Since there are plenty of such victims in the city ,that is the reason why RTK is established in the capital city of Malaysia i,e Kuala Lumpur. Even if it has been almost 13 years since this RTK shelter home has been established, they have only managed to rent 3 houses in order to separate the male residents with the female residents as well as the old folks and disabled people. The separation is seen to be crucial as most the occupants are Muslims and mostly due to their unfortunate and unpleasant past, they tend to be very sensitive and hostile at times. Hence, the main predicament that the RTK is currently facing is with regards to finding a solid residence or land to claim it as their own home without having to pay their monthly rental, that is exorbitantly priced at RM17,000. They have been trying for so many years to collect money in order to buy their own property where they could no longer have financial worries on who to depend upon for their monthly rental, however most efforts have been futile. Therefore, in line with this Community Service project THINKFINITY,that we have embarked upon as students of Brickfields Asia College, we would like to raise awareness to find a permanent shelter home for the poor and unfortunate souls of the Rumah Titian Kasih as well as to cater for their need as much as possible since they are supporting vast number of unfortunate people from different age,background,character and society .
