The recent boat tragedy at the Thailand–Malaysia border has left our community in deep grief. Rohingya families risk the ocean not because they want to, but because persecution, statelessness, and lack of safe pathways leave them with no choice. No one chooses the sea unless the land is no longer safe.

This is not just a disaster it is a reminder of the systems that continue to fail our people.

We need:
• Safe and legal pathways to protection
• Coordinated search and rescue, not pushbacks
• Documentation and dignity, not blame and fear

Rohingya lives are not disposable.
Our community deserves safety, dignity, and the chance to live without fear.
May those lost rest in peace.
We continue the work for those who remain.

Empowering Rohingya Women — “Five Pillars, One Purpose”

Our work is built on five pillars — each designed by and for Rohingya women:

🌿 Healing – Safe spaces and trauma recovery so women can rebuild with dignity.
💪 Empowerment – Skills, education, and livelihoods for self-reliance.
🗣️ Self-Determination – Leadership training to shape policies and futures.
🤝 Solidarity – Advocacy alliances to amplify survivor voices.
🌍 Sustainability – Programs that endure, evolve, and grow.

Every pillar is rooted in one belief: that women are not just participants in refugee response they are essential to its success.

Fund women-led action today, because sustainable change starts at the source.

In August 2025, RWDN hosted the first Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day in Malaysia.

Rohingya community members raised urgent calls to ASEAN, Malaysia, and UNHCR:
📌 Safety & security in Arakan, return of lands, and release of abducted men.
📌 End genocide, mass killings, and abuses by both the Arakan Army & Burmese Junta.
📌 In Malaysia: protect refugees from xenophobia, end long-term detentions, ensure education, healthcare & dignity.
📌 Push for durable solutions, including third-country resettlement.

Their message is clear: Rohingya deserve safety, dignity, and a future. ✊🏽

RWDN at SEAWLC 2025: A Milestone for Refugee Representation

RWDN was deeply honored to participate in the Southeast Asia Women’s Leadership Conference (SEAWLC) 2025, held at the Malaysian Parliament. We were proud to be the only refugee-led organization invited to this prestigious event.
Our community leader Syedah Bi, accompanied by our country coordinator Fatiha, represented RWDN with strength and dignity.

Syedah also stood out as the only refugee participant at the conference, making our presence even more significant.
Our participation was warmly welcomed by both the event organizers and prominent attendees, including Nurul Izzah, daughter of Malaysia’s current Prime Minister.
Ms. Izzah took a personal interest in Syedah’s traditional attire, sparking a heartfelt conversation around cultural identity, resilience, and refugee experiences.

She expressed a strong interest in collaborating with RWDN on refugee and Rohingya issues in Malaysia, signaling a promising path forward for greater engagement and national-level advocacy.

We extend our sincere thanks to SEAWLC for this invaluable opportunity, and we look forward to deepening the connections and visibility gained during this impactful event.
