MY Hepatitis Day

MY Hepatitis Day Hepatitis Awareness Campaigns in Malaysia A fact that is not widely known is that one in 12 people in the world has chronic hepatitis.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizing Viral Hepatitis as a critical health issue that requires worldwide attention has assigned 28 July as World Hepatitis Day. In Malaysia, a committee chaired by Professor Rosmawati, hepatologist of the University of Malaya Medical Centre is organizing a number of events to mark the day and draw public attention to the dreaded disease. Exacerbating the s

ituation is the fact that many are not even aware that they are carriers. There is also considerable ignorance in our community about the routes of transmission and how it can actually lead to death if left untreated. The committee, in addition to activities aimed at creating greater awareness of these diseases of the liver is arranging for 6000 free blood screening for both hepatitis B & C to be administered across the country with procedures for vaccination and treatment of those found to be infected. Please support this initiative to raise awareness on hepatitis by sharing this page with your friends and family. Thank you, we are taking one step forward towards eradicating viral hepatitis.
