AIBIM organised an exclusive Leadership Talk at Menara Affin @ TRX, bringing together 36 Shariah Committees member and Shariah officers from AIBIM member banks.
The session, titled “Leadership in Advancing Shariah Governance in a Dynamic Islamic Finance Landscape: A Boardroom Perspective”, was delivered by YBrs. Tuan Haji Musa Abdul Malek, Chairman of Affin Islamic Bank Berhad, and moderated by Ustaz Syed Muhammad bin Syed Mohamad Nasir, Head of Shariah, Affin Islamic Bank Berhad.
Drawing from his boardroom perspective and leadership experience, YBrs. Tuan Haji Musa Abdul Malek shared his aspirations for the next generation of Shariah Officers and Shariah Committee members. He emphasised the importance of strong leadership, sound judgement, continuous learning, and the courage to embrace innovation and explore new ideas in shaping a stronger and more sustainable future for Islamic banking.
His sharing also highlighted the evolving role of Shariah professionals beyond technical expertise. As trusted advisers and strategic contributors, they have an important role in bringing fresh perspectives, fostering innovation and contributing to the continued development of Islamic banking.
The session was opened by Puan Ratna Sha’erah Kamaludin, Executive Director of AIBIM, who reaffirmed AIBIM’s commitment to advancing thought leadership, governance excellence, talent transformation and capacity building across the Islamic banking industry.
Participants gained valuable perspectives on leadership, innovation and the evolving role of Shariah professionals in contributing to a future-ready Islamic finance industry.
