The Deputy Chairman and Acting Chairman of the Somali Community in Malaysia (SSCM), Mr. Zakaria Hassan Mohamed, attended the Somali Diaspora Meeting organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The meeting provided an important platform to strengthen engagement with the Somali diaspora and discuss opportunities for collaboration and contribution towards the development of Somalia.

The Acting Chairman, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Somali Society, Mr. Zakaria Hassan Mohamed, together with executive members of the society, had a fruitful meeting with Mr. Ahmed Ahmed, a committee member of the Somali Community in Melbourne, Australia.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on strengthening collaboration between the Somali communities in Malaysia and Australia.

We appreciate his positive and forward-looking commitment towards working together on several initiatives in the near future.

The Executive Committee of the Somali Community in Malaysia (SSCM), led by the Acting Chairman and Deputy Chairman, Mr. Zakaria Hassan Mohamed, held a meeting with the Ambassador of Somalia to Malaysia, H.E. Ali Wolf.

During the meeting, several important contemporary issues affecting the Somali community were discussed, with a strong focus on community development and future collaboration.

We highly appreciate the Ambassador’s commitment to supporting the community and working together for the betterment and progress of our society.

The Acting Chairman was accompanied by the Secretary, Mr. Abdinasir Barqadle; the Treasurer, Ms. Haawa Abdinasir; and the Senior Advisor, Mr. Yasin Said.

The Acting Chairman of the Somali Community in Malaysia, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman, Mr. Zakaria Hassan Mohamed, attended the International Community Networking Program organized by Hospital Islam Az-Zahra.

Accompanying him were key representatives of the Somali community, including Mr. Mohamed Hassan, Welfare Program Manager, and Mr. Ali, Senior Adviser.

During the event, the delegation held a constructive discussion with the hospital’s top management, exploring potential areas of collaboration. These included medical support for individuals who are unable to afford healthcare, as well as organizing seminars and awareness campaigns for the Somali community in Malaysia.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the hospital’s management for inviting us to this important program and for the productive engagement.

The Somali Community in Malaysia remains committed to promoting the well-being of its members and to building meaningful partnerships with organizations that are willing to support our community.

The Somali Community in Malaysia Strengthens Government–Diaspora Relations

It was a great honor for a delegation led by the Chairman of the Somali Community in Malaysia, Mr. Moktar Mohamed Ali, to hold an important meeting with the Director of the Diaspora Affairs Department, Mr. Ibrahim Guure Mohamed.

The meeting focused on strengthening strategic cooperation between the Government of Somalia and Somali diaspora communities abroad, with particular emphasis on the diaspora’s role in investment, national reconstruction, community support, and the growth of Somalia’s economy.

The Somali Community in Malaysia once again reaffirms its strong commitment to playing a visible role in Somalia’s reconstruction, community development, and support for the country’s long-term development agenda.
