The National Cancer Society of Malaysia has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lions Clubs International District 308B1, marking a significant collaboration to strengthen cancer awareness, promote early detection, and expand access to community-based screening services nationwide.
President Choong Siew Bee, Zone chairperson Lim Penny and 2nd Vice District Governor Serena Yeo from Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur Taman Tun attended the signing ceremony.
Through this partnership, both organisations have launched the βKnow Early, Act Earlyβ campaign, reflecting a shared commitment to shifting the focus from late-stage treatment to early detection and prevention. The initiative aims to reach 20,000 individuals within the next year.
This collaboration will focus on:
βΎ Expanding access to cancer screening services, particularly among underserved and high-risk communities
βΎ Promoting early detection to improve survival rates and treatment outcomes
βΎ Delivering impactful health education programmes
βΎ Driving anti-smoking awareness among youth
βΎ Increasing the adoption of NCSMβs LungShield initiative within communities
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dato' Dr Saunthari Somasundaram, President of National Cancer Society Malaysia, and Mr Sek Jin Han, District Governor of Lions Clubs International District 308B1. The signing was witnessed by Kol. Bersekutu (PA) Prof. Dr. Murallitharan Munisamy, Managing Director of National Cancer Society Malaysia, and Mr Dennix Yeow Wah Fuong, District Chairperson for Cancer Awareness and Childhood Cancer, Lions Clubs International District 308B1.
Together, both organisations remain committed to empowering communities with the knowledge and access needed to take proactive steps towards better health.
