【CASE NO.16：43 岁戴立圣先生不幸患上急性血癌（第四期），急需社会各界伸的援助！】
今年 43 岁的戴立圣（Tai Lip Sern），原本在新加坡担任验眼师（验光师），是一名勤恳负责的丈夫，也是两名孩子的父亲。2023 年 5 月的一天夜里，他突然感到胸口与腰部剧痛难耐，隔天早上便出境新加坡返回新山的医院求诊。然而，住院多日后仍查不出病因，医院最终为他安排转院至吉隆坡的政府医院以进行更全面的检查，在进一步的检测中，戴先生被确诊为第四期急性血癌（第四期）。这个突如其来的消息，让原本稳定的家庭瞬间面临沉重的打击，也让他迫切需要及时的治疗与持续的支持。
确诊后不久，戴先生的弟弟立即挺身而出，捐出骨髓为哥哥进行第一次移植手术。手术顺利完成，戴先生的身体状况逐渐好转，甚至在恢复期间重返工作岗位达半年之久。然而，一年后病情不幸再次复发，且情况比之前更为严重。为了拯救哥哥，戴先生的哥哥这次义无反顾地捐出骨髓，第二次移植手术同样顺利完成。但在术后恢复期间，医生却告知情况出现变化——由于哥哥的干细胞与戴先生並不是 100% 吻合，癌细胞虽然没有再复发，但身体与骨髓之间发生排斥反应，使他的康复之路再度变得艰难。
在第二次移植手术的恢复期间，由于身体与骨髓出现排斥反应，戴先生的肺部受到感染，身体状况急剧恶化。他经常不受控制地发抖，全身皮肤脱落，大量掉发，身上更出现一片片红疹。原本一直积极面对病魔的他，在经历两轮化疗及每天必须服用的多种药物后，开始出现幻觉、神志不清与情绪失控的情况。这些变化让在身旁照顾他的妻子感到无比心酸与无助，却仍努力坚强地陪伴在他身边。
根据医生的说明，骨髓移植后身体的细胞原本应在约三个月内逐渐自行恢复。然而，由于排斥反应持续发生，戴先生不得不频繁接受治疗、复诊与密切观察，康复过程一再被延后。目前，他正依赖一种特殊药物来控制病情。该药物价格昂贵，一罐需 RM9,500，而他现阶段共需 6 罐，全部为自费项目。对于一个在长时间治疗期间已完全无收入的家庭而言，这笔费用无疑是沉重的压力，再次将全家推向经济困境。
戴先生的妻子 蒋婉婷（41 岁）是一名家庭主妇。自从丈夫患病后，她选择 24 小时陪伴在侧，悉心照顾他的日常与治疗需求。由于长时间待在医院，她无法外出工作，只能利用空档在网上学习制作甜品和折金纸，希望能以此为家里带来一些收入。
她向我们提到，虽然生活艰辛，但仍希望靠自己的努力承担家庭开销，也获得不少网友的支持与鼓励。然而，这些微薄的收入与庞大的医疗与生活费用相比，仍显得杯水车薪。在无力承担的情况下，她只能鼓起勇气，向社会各界寻求协助。
在了解他们一家的处境后，世爱基金会决定为戴立圣先生筹备 RM 6,000 作为接下来半年所需要的生活以及医药费用以帮助戴先生能安心接受治疗和减轻家里目前所面临的财务困境。

[CASE NO.16: 43-year-old Mr.Tai Lip Sern has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Acute Leukemia and urgently needs help from the public]
Mr.Tai Lip Sern, aged 43, worked as an optometrist in Singapore. He is a diligent and responsible husband, and a father of two children. In May 2023, he suddenly experienced severe chest and lower back pain one night. The next morning, he left Singapore and returned to Johor Bahru to received medical treatment. After being hospitalized for several days, the cause of his illness remained unknown. He was eventually referred to a government hospital in Kuala Lumpur for further examination. After more detailed testing, Mr.Tai was diagnosed with Stage 4 Acute Leukemia. This unexpected news brought a heavy blow to his once-stable family and left him urgently in need of timely treatment and continuous support.
Shortly after the diagnosis, Mr.Tai’s younger brother bravely stepped forward to donate bone marrow for his first transplant. The procedure went smoothly, and his condition gradually improved. He even managed to return to work for half a year during his recovery. Unfortunately, a year later, his illness relapsed—and this time, the condition was even more severe. To save him, his elder brother then selflessly donated bone marrow for a second transplant. The surgery was successful, but during recovery, doctors informed them of new complications. Because the elder brother’s stem cells were not a 100% match, although the cancer cells did not return, Mr.Tai began experiencing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), causing his recovery to become even more challenging.
During the recovery period after the second transplant, the rejection reaction caused a severe lung infection, and his condition deteriorated rapidly. He suffered uncontrollable shivering, peeling skin, significant hair loss, and widespread rashes across his body. Despite always trying to stay strong in his fight against illness, undergoing two rounds of chemotherapy and daily medications eventually caused hallucinations, confusion, and emotional instability. Witnessing these changes was heartbreaking and overwhelming for his wife, yet she continued to stay by his side, caring for him tirelessly.
According to doctors, the body’s cells should gradually recover within about three months after a bone marrow transplant. Due to ongoing rejection, Mr.Tai now requires frequent treatments, follow-ups, and close monitoring, delaying his recovery again and again. Currently, he relies on a special medication to control his condition. This medication is extremely costly—RM9,500 per bottle ,and he needs a total of six bottles, all of which must be paid out of pocket. For a family that has lost all income during this long medical journey, this expense has become an overwhelming burden and has pushed them into financial distress once more.
Mr.Tai’s wife, Chio Guan Tang (Age 41), is a housewife. Since her husband fell ill, she has chosen to stay by his side 24 hours a day, caring for all his daily and medical needs. Because she spends most of her time in the hospital, she is unable to work. She uses her limited free time to learn dessert-making and paper-folding online, hoping to earn a small income for the family.
She shared with us that although life has been incredibly difficult, she hopes to shoulder the family’s expenses through her own efforts, and she has received encouragement and support from many kind individuals online. But the small income she earns is far from enough to cover their massive medical and living expenses. With no other solution, she has gathered the courage to seek help from the public.
After understanding their situation, our foundation has decided to raise RM6,000 to support Mr.Tai’s essential living and medical expenses for the next six months, helping ease the financial strain and allowing him to focus on treatment.
