📅 PRAXIS 2026: Reimagining visions of progress | 18 August 2026

Block your calendar for PRAXIS, ISIS Malaysia’s flagship public policy conference designed to bridge ideas and to translate theory into practice.

This year, we are convening policymakers, researchers, practitioners and civil society to articulate credible “north stars” for a post-high-income Malaysia, and to translate them into near-term choices for institutions, policy and delivery. PRAXIS 2026 begins from the view that a national project must first be imagined together.

Stay tuned for updates.

Pleased to host a delegation from Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Philippines recently, as part of their ‘Women in security’ programme. This initiative brings together a cohort of women professionals, scholars and practitioners dedicated to maritime security, geopolitics and defence within the Philippine and broader Indo-Pacific contexts.

The dialogue was a deep dive into:
• Malaysia’s strategic hedging and middle-power diplomacy in the Indo-Pacific
• ASEAN diplomacy, consensus-building, and minilateral cooperation
• Geopolitics of maritime security issues in Southeast Asia and its implications to regional dynamics

A huge thank you to our team – Thomas Daniel, Dr Yanitha Meena, Ahmad Zikri and Anis Rifhan – for represent and leading the exchange of ideas.

hosted ‘Türkiye and the path towards a stable global order’, a roundtable discussion featuring a keynote by HE Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan.

Drawing from his extensive leadership across Türkiye’s most influential cultural and educational institutions, and civil societies, Bilal Erdoğan provided a nuanced perspective on the nation’s historical trajectory and its role in a shifting geopolitical landscape. His message was clear: in an era where the rules-based order is breaking apart, we must return to the foundational values that make us human: respect, compassion and sustainability.

Thank you, Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Faiz Abdullah, Executive Chairman of ISIS Malaysia and Sharif H Banna MBE, President of the Sycamore Foundation for Global Leadership for the opening remarks. We are also grateful to Puan Nurul Izzah Anwar (), Executive Chair of Polity for the support towards this initiative.
