The Asian Mind Sports Association (AMSA), in collaboration with the Malaysia Cube Sports Association (MYCSA), successfully organised the AMSA Malaysia National Speed Cubing Open 2026 on Saturday, 15th August 2026, at the Sunway Velocity, Kuala Lumpur.

The Opening Ceremony of the AMSA Malaysia National Speed Cubing Open 2026 was officiated by Ms. Moira Tan Siew See, Assistant Secretary General of OCM.

“On behalf of OCM, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to AMSA for its collaboration in the development and promotion of Mind Sports in Malaysia” quoted Ms. Moira Tan Siew See in her opening speech.

“Although Speed Cubing is not currently part of the Olympic Programmes, the Olympic Movement continues to observe the development of emerging and evolving sports. Participation, youth development, international competition, good governance, integrity and professional sporting structures are all important factors in this process”.

“The initiatives undertaken by AMSA are in line with the Olympic Values of Excellence, Respect and Friendship, which are promoted throughout the Olympic Movement worldwide”.

“We look forward to further strengthening our collaboration with AMSA and contributing to the development and promotion of Mind Sports across Asia” she added.

The AMSA Malaysia National Speed Cubing Open 2026 attracted approximately 120 participants, aged between 7 and 30 years, from various states across Malaysia.

Distinguished guests who attended the event in support of the initiative included Mr. Jim Yu (Director General of AMSA), Mdm. Jiang Huizhi (Member of the AMSA Marketing Committee), Mr. Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah Sanusi (President of the Malaysian Chess Federation), Mr. Leow Yi Jun (President of MYCSA) and Mr. Fong Wan Hor (Chief Executive Officer of OCM).

On behalf of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (Commonwealth Sport Malaysia), I extend my heartiest congratulations to the Malaysian Weightlifting Federation and the Weightlifting Team on their magnificent performance at the recently concluded XXIII Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026.

The Weightlifting Team contributed a total of seven (7) medals for the Malaysian Contingent, comprising five (5) gold, one (1) silver and one (1) bronze, marking a landmark achievement that has brought immense pride and glory to our nation.

In addition to this remarkable achievement, the Malaysian Weightlifting Federation was also awarded the prestigious Trafalgar Trophy for being the overall best-performing Men's Weightlifting Team at the XXIII Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 during the Meeting of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation, held on Friday, 31st July 2026 at the Hilton Glasgow.

This historic triumph is a testament to the vision, dedication and strategic foresight of the leadership of the Malaysian Weightlifting Federation, admirably led by its President, YBhg Datuk Ayub Rahmat, and supported by its dedicated office bearers, coaches, athletes, sponsors and other supporting partners.

In recognition of this outstanding success, the Olympic Council of Malaysia (Commonwealth Sport Malaysia) fully supports the request by the Malaysian Weightlifting Federation for an annual allocation of RM 1 million from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to further strengthen the development of Weightlifting in Malaysia. This proposal is timely and well justified, as Weightlifting has unequivocally established itself as a reliable gold medal prospect on the international stage. A sustained financial commitment is essential to maintain this momentum, enhance athlete welfare and nurture the next generation of champions.

The Olympic Council of Malaysia (Commonwealth Sport Malaysia) remains steadfast in its commitment and will continue to facilitate the development of Weightlifting through all available channels, including leveraging international grants under the Olympic Solidarity Programme, tapping into developmental resources provided by the Olympic Council of Asia and extending direct assistance through the Olympic Council of Malaysia Trust Fund.

Both Mdm. Norazian DAUD and Mdm. Jariah ZAKARIA made their Commonwealth Games debut at Glasgow 2026.

In the Para Bowls Women's Pairs B6-B8 Bronze Medal Match, Mdm. Norazian DAUD and Mdm. Jariah ZAKARIA, the gold medallists in the Women's Pairs event at the 4th Asia Bowls for the Disabled Championship 2024, defeated Scotland's Mdm. Mary WILSON and Mdm. Pauline WILSON 10-3, 7-3, to clinch their first-ever Commonwealth Games medals.

Commonwealth Sport Malaysia extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Amirul Danial ABDUL RAHIM and Mr. Mohammad Soufi RUSLI on their outstanding achievement in winning the bronze medal for the Malaysian Contingent in the Bowls Men's Pairs event.

Mr. Amirul Danial ABDUL RAHIM made his Commonwealth Games debut, while Mr. Mohammad Soufi RUSLI competed in his 3rd Commonwealth Games, having previously competed in the Men's Singles and Men's Triples events at the XXI Commonwealth Games Gold Coast 2018 and in the Men's Triples and Men's Fours events at the XXII Commonwealth Games Birmingham 2022.

In the Bowls Men's Pairs Bronze Medal Match, Mr. Amirul Danial ABDUL RAHIM, the 2025 Asian Champion in the Men's Pairs, together with Mr. Mohammad Soufi RUSLI, the 2017 Southeast Asian Games gold medallist in the Men's Singles and the 2019 Southeast Asian Games bronze medallist in the Men's Pairs, delivered a stunning performance to defeat Canada's Mr. John BEZEAR and Mr. Ryan BESTER 5-3, 3-3, clinching their first-ever Commonwealth Games medals.

The Malaysian Contingent celebrated another historic milestone at the XXIII Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 on Saturday, 1st August 2026, headlined by a sensational gold medal victory from Mr. Amir Daniel ABDUL MAJEED in the Judo Men's -81kg event. The achievement marked the eighth gold medal for the Malaysian Contingent at the Games and Malaysia's first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medal in the sport of Judo since its participation in the Games.

In Judo Men’s Quarterfinal, Mr. Amir Daniel ABDUL MAJEED defeated Gabon's Mr. Fernand NKERO before seeing off Australia's Mr. Keishin OCHI in the Semi-Final. In the Final, he delivered a phenomenal performance to defeat South Africa's Mr. Timothy MEUWSEN and claim the historic gold medal in Judo. Mr. Odysseas GEORGAKIS of Cyprus and Mr. Keishin OCHI of Australia both secured the bronze medals.

Dr. Nur Azmi AHMAD, Deputy President of Commonwealth Sport Malaysia and President of both the Malaysia Karate Federation (MAKAF) and the South East Asia Karate Federation (SEAKF), was given the honour of presenting the medals to the medallists of the Judo Men's -81kg event.

In Track Cycling Men's Sprint Qualifying Round, both Mr. Mohd Azizulhasni AWANG OLY and Mr. Muhammad Shah Firdaus SAHROM OLY qualified for the next round after placing 9th (9.715) and 10th (9.805), respectively among 29 competitors. In the 1/8 Final, Mr. Muhammad Shah Firdaus SAHROM OLY bowed out after losing to Australia's Mr. Daniel James BARBER in Heat 7. Meanwhile, Mr. Mohd Azizulhasni AWANG OLY advanced to the Quarterfinal after defeating England's Mr. Joseph TRUMAN in Heat 8. In the Quarter-Final, Mr. Mohd Azizulhasni AWANG OLY was defeated by Australia's Mr. Leigh HOFFMAN OLY, narrowly missing out on a place in the Semi-Finals.

In Track Cycling Women's 1000m Time Trial Final, Ms. Nurul Izzah Izzati MOHD ASRI finished 12th out of 17 competitors after clocking a time of 1:08.673.

In Track Cycling Men's 10km Scratch Race Final, Mr. New Joe LAU was unfortunate not to complete the race after being involved in a crash. He was subsequently taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for further medical treatment.

In Para Track Cycling Women's Tandem B 1000m Time Trial Final, Ms. Nur Suraiya MUHAMMAD ZAMRI and her pilot Ms. Farina Shawati MOHD ADNAN finished 5th out of 6 competitors with a time of 1:13.507, while Ms. Nur Azlia Syafinaz MOHD ZAIS and her pilot Ms. Nurul Suhada ZAINAL finished 6th with a time of 1:15.602.

In Para Track Cycling Men's Tandem B Sprint, Mr. Mohd Khairul Hazwan WAHAB and his pilot Mr. Muhammad Nabil Wafiq ZAMRI qualified for the Semi-Finals after finishing 4th in the Qualifying Round (10.491). In Semi-Final Heat 1, the duo was defeated by Scotland's Mr. Neil FACHIE MBE and his pilot Mr. Aaron POPE. In the Bronze Medal Race, they were defeated by Australia's Mr. Kane PERRIS and his pilot Mr. Luke ZACCARIA to finish 4th overall.

In Bowls Men's Pairs Sectional Play Section A Round 5, Mr. Amirul Danial ABDUL RAHIM and Mr. Mohammad Soufi RUSLI defeated Guernsey's Mr. Ian MERRIEN and Mr. Jason GREENSLADE 5-5, 13-1 to advance to the Semi-Finals. In the Semi-Final, the duo fought hard before losing 9-1, 2-8, 1-0 to Northern Ireland's Mr. Adam McKEOWN and Mr. Gary KELLY.

In Bowls Women's Singles Sectional Play, Section C, Round 5, Ms. Emma Firyana SAROJI defeated Wales' Ms. Amy WILLIAMS 6-5, 8-1 to secure her place in the Semi-Finals. In the Semi-Final, she subsequently lost 11-1, 8-5 to Guernsey's Ms. Ali MERRIEN.

In Para Bowls Women's Pairs B6-B8, Section A, R5, Ms. Norazian DAUD and Ms. Jariah ZAKARIA defeated Canada's Ms. Jean STAIRS and Ms. Anne HIBBERD 7-2, 9-1 to advance to the Semi-Finals. In the Semi-Final, they lost 4-4, 4-2 to New Zealand's Ms. Julie O'CONNELL and Ms. Teri BLACKBOURN.

In Athletics Men's Discus Throw Final, Mr. Muhammad Irfan SHAMSUDDIN unfortunately did not record any valid throws from his three attempts.

The Malaysian Contingent will look to carry this incredible momentum into the final day of competition at Glasgow 2026.

Commonwealth Sport Malaysia extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Amir Daniel ABDUL MAJEED on his outstanding achievement in winning the eighth gold medal for the Malaysian Contingent in the Judo Men's -81kg event on Saturday, 1st August 2026.

Mr. Amir Daniel ABDUL MAJEED, a 22-year-old making his 2nd appearance at the Commonwealth Games, created history by becoming the first Malaysian judoka to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. He previously competed in the Men's 73kg event at the XXII Commonwealth Games Birmingham 2022, where he contributed a bronze medal for the Malaysian Contingent, which also marked Malaysia's first-ever Commonwealth Games medal in the sport of Judo.

In addition to his Commonwealth Games gold medal achievement, Mr. Amir Daniel ABDUL MAJEED has demonstrated remarkable resilience and commitment throughout his participation in the Southeast Asian Games, earning his first medal at the age of 17. He contributed bronze medals in the Men's 73kg event at the 31st Southeast Asian Games Vietnam 2021 and 32nd Southeast Asian Games Cambodia 2023, respectively, before winning the gold medal in the Men's 81kg event at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games Thailand 2025.

The Malaysian Contingent enjoyed another day of golden success at the XXIII Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 on Friday, 31st July 2026, headlined by a sensational victory from "The Pocket Rocketman" Mr. Mohd Azizulhasni AWANG OLY, who clinched his first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medal in the Track Cycling Men's Keirin event. It marked the seventh gold medal for the Malaysian Contingent at the Games.

In Track Cycling and Para Track Cycling, the highlight of the day and the biggest cheer for the Malaysian Contingent came at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. In the Men's Keirin, Mr. Mohd Azizulhasni AWANG OLY and Mr. Muhammad Shah Firdaus SAHROM OLY both finished 2nd in their respective First Round heats to advance directly to the Second Round.

In the Second Round, Mr. Mohd Azizulhasni AWANG OLY once again finished 2nd in Heat 1 to qualify for the Final 1-6. Mr. Muhammad Shah Firdaus SAHROM OLY narrowly missed the top three cut after placing 4th in Heat 2, advancing to the Final 7-12.

The Men's Keirin Finals were graced with royal presence as HRH Tengku Muhammad Ismail Al-Wathiqu Billah SULTAN MIZAN ZAINAL ABIDIN, the Regent of Terengganu, was present to cheer on Mr. Mohd Azizulhasni AWANG OLY during his farewell Commonwealth Games campaign and Mr. Muhammad Shah Firdaus SAHROM OLY. The Regent was accompanied by Dr. Nur Azmi AHMAD, Deputy President of Commonwealth Sport Malaysia and President of both the Malaysia Karate Federation (MAKAF) and the South East Asia Karate Federation (SEAKF), alongside Mr. Awalan ABDUL AZIZ, Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent and President of the Malaysia Lawn Bowls Federation.

In the Men's Keirin Final 1-6, Mr. Mohd Azizulhasni Awang OLY capped his Commonwealth Games career with a golden performance of pure class, storming to victory to secure a historic gold medal ahead of Australia's Mr. Leigh HOFFMAN OLY (silver) and England's Mr. Harry LEDINGHAM-HORN (bronze). Mr. Muhammad Shah Firdaus SAHROM OLY finished 1st in the Final 7-12 to secure 7th place overall. Mr. Awalan Abdul AZIZ was given the honour of presenting the medals to the medallists of the Men's Keirin event.

In the Women's Sprint, Ms. Nurul Izzah Izzati MOHD ASRI and Ms. Nur Alyssa MOHD FARID got off to a flying start by qualifying 11th (10.706) and 15th (10.882), respectively, among 22 competitors. In the 1/8 Final, Ms. Nur Alyssa MOHD FARID bowed out to England's Ms. Sophie CAPEWELL OLY. However, Ms. Nurul Izzah Izzati MOHD ASRI produced a stunning performance to defeat Scotland's Ms. Iona Margaret MOIR and reach the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, Ms. Nurul Izzah Izzati MOHD ASRI mounted an impressive comeback from one race down to defeat England's Ms. Rhianna PARRIS-SMITH 2-1 and advance to the semi-finals. She won the opening race of her semi-final against Ms. Sophie CAPEWELL OLY before dropping the next 2 races. In the bronze medal race, Ms. Nurul Izzah Izzati MOHD ASRI was defeated by Wales' Ms. Rhian EDMUNDS to finish 4th overall. Wales' Ms. Emma FINUCANE OLY claimed the gold medal, while Ms. Sophie CAPEWELL OLY secured the silver medal.

In the Men's Elimination Race Final, Mr. New Joe LAU placed 14th out of 23 competitors.

In Para Track Cycling, Mr. Mohamad Yusof Hafizi SHAHARUDDIN narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the Men's C1-C3 1000m Time Trial Final, finishing 4th overall while setting a new C1 Commonwealth Games Record with a time of 1:08.658.

In Bowls and Para Bowls, the day started on a high note in the Men's Pairs Sectional Play, Section A, Round 4, as Mr. Amirul Danial ABDUL RAHIM and Mr. Mohammad Soufi RUSLI defeated Wales' Mr. Daniel SALMON and Mr. Ross OWEN 3-2, 5-2.

In the Women's Singles Sectional Play, Section C, Round 4, Ms. Emma Firyana SAROJI delivered another strong performance, defeating South Africa's Ms. Bridget HERSELMAN 6-5, 6-3.

In the Para Bowls Women's Pairs B6-B8, Section A, R4, the pair of Ms. Norazian DAUD and Ms. Jariah ZAKARIA fought hard but fell to Australia's Ms. Louise HOSKINS and Ms. Serena BONNELL 9-3, 3-3.

Commonwealth Sport Malaysia extends its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Mohd Azizulhasni AWANG OLY on his outstanding achievement in winning the seventh gold medal for the Malaysian Contingent in the Track Cycling Men's Keirin event on Friday, 31st July 2026.

Mr. Mohd Azizulhasni Awang OLY, a 2-time Olympic Games medallist (bronze at Rio 2016 and silver at Tokyo 2020), as well as the 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Champion in the Men's Keirin event, made his 4th appearance at the Commonwealth Games, having previously competed at Delhi 2010, Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018. The gold medal he won at Glasgow 2026 marks his first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medal. Prior to this achievement, he had contributed a bronze medal in the Men's Team Sprint event at Delhi 2010 and another bronze medal in the Men's Keirin event at Glasgow 2014.

Today, 31st July 2026, marks the 50-Day Countdown to the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, scheduled to take place from 19th September to 4th October 2026.

The Malaysian Contingent of 523 members, comprising 347 athletes (200 males and 147 females) and 176 team officials (135 males and 41 females), will be led by the Chef de Mission Dato' Mohd Sumali Reduan, Vice President of OCM, who also serves as President of the Malaysian Sepaktakraw Federation (PSM) and Vice President of the International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF).

He will be assisted by the Deputy Chefs de Mission and former Asian Games gold medallists, Mr. Mohamad Azlan Iskandar and Ms. Syaidatul Afifah Badrul Hamidi.

The OCM invites everyone to extend unwavering support for the Malaysian Contingent in its preparations for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
