The 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Torch Relay began at the historic Nagoya Castle on Saturday, 22nd August 2026, following flame-lighting ceremonies in Tokyo and Hiroshima, the previous Japanese host cities of the 3rd Asian Games Tokyo 1958 and the 12th Asian Games Hiroshima 1994, respectively.

The Torch then embarked on its journey through all 40 municipalities of Aichi Prefecture and the 16 wards of Nagoya City, with 1,000 torchbearers taking part. The Torch Relay culminated at Hisaya Odori Park in Nagoya City on Friday, 18th September 2026.

The design of the Torch for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 draws inspiration from the history and technology of “monozukuri”, the Japanese spirit and tradition of manufacturing deeply rooted in Aichi-Nagoya. The Torch, which was unveiled at the 100-day countdown ceremony at the Nagoya Noh Theatre on Thursday, 11th June 2026, carries the motto “A Uniting Flame for All”, with its exposed internal burner unit reflecting the region’s industrial character.

What made the climax of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Torch Relay truly remarkable was the participation of the OCA leadership, together with strong representation and support from NOCs.

Dr. Norza ZAKARIA, President of NOC Malaysia, President of SEAGF, Vice President of OCA for Southeast Asia Zone and Executive Board Member of ISSA, was accorded the honour of being the 5th torchbearer at the climax of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Torch Relay.

Dr. Norza ZAKARIA received the Torch from HH Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmed AL-SABAH, President of NOC Kuwait and Vice President of OCA for West Asia Zone, before carrying the Torch for approximately 100m and subsequently passing the flame to Captain Husain AL-MUSALLAM, Director General of OCA, President of World Aquatics and Secretary General of NOC Kuwait.

Hon. Mr. Mohd Sumali REDUAN, Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent at 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, who also serves as Vice President of NOC Malaysia, President of Malaysian Sepaktakraw Federation (PSM) and Vice President of International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF), also took part in this historic occasion. He was the 9th torchbearer among the 15 torchbearers who took part in the momentous climax of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Torch Relay, further highlighting the strong presence of NOC Malaysia within the wider OCA Family.

The Torch will make its final journey to the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium for the Opening Ceremony of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on Saturday, 19th September 2026.
