Anson is the youngest of two siblings. He lives with his mother and a 19-year-old sister, who is currently studying while working part-time.

Anson was born with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a complex congenital heart condition that affects the normal flow of blood through the heart and to the lungs. He underwent a complete repair in 2011. However, over the years, he developed progressive pulmonary regurgitation, causing his right ventricle to become enlarged and placing additional strain on his heart.

Recently, Anson was admitted to IJN and successfully underwent Percutaneous Pulmonary Valve Implantation (Venus) — a minimally invasive procedure where a new valve is inserted through a blood vessel and placed inside the pulmonary valve to help control blood flow from the heart to the lungs.

Anson’s 41-year-old mother is a single parent, working part-time as a bookseller while caring for Anson and his older sister. His father continues to provide financial support for the children, and together, the family does what they can to support Anson through his heart treatment journey.
Despite their efforts, the cost of his treatment was still beyond what the family could afford. This was when his mother reached out to the IJN Foundation for assistance.

With the kind and generous support of IJN Foundation’s donors, Anson was able to receive the treatment he needed. Today, he is recovering at home, taking each day one step closer to getting back to the things he enjoys.

Sometimes, a helping hand can give a family more than financial support — it can give them hope, strength, and another chance at tomorrow.

Your support brings hope and gives another heart a chance at a better future.

This World Heart Day is a reminder that awareness alone is not enough. It is about turning intention into action. It is about putting our hearts into action.

It starts with listening more closely to our bodies, not missing the subtle signs we often overlook. The quiet fatigue, the shortness of breath, the moments we brush aside. Because sometimes, the heart speaks softly before it asks for help.

It continues with the choices we make each day. Protecting our hearts through healthier habits, caring for our well-being, and taking steps that shape a stronger future.

And it grows when we look beyond ourselves, advocating for better awareness, stronger communities, and equal access to care for those who need it most.

Because staying healthy is not just for us. It is for the people who count on us: our families, our loved ones, our communities.

When we put our hearts into action, we empower others to do the same.
At the IJN Foundation, we continue to champion heart health awareness and prevention, building a future where every heartbeat is protected, in line with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.

Start today. Take one step. Put your heart in action.

John Angelo, the eldest of three siblings, carries a quiet sense of responsibility beyond his years. After losing his father in 2022, he stepped up to support his family, working part-time while his mother, a seamstress, balances earning a living and caring for his two younger children.

Diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), John first underwent corrective surgery at Institut Jantung Negara in 2009. While successful, his journey continued as doctors later detected increasing pressure across his valve. After further assessments, he underwent a complex pulmonary valve replacement earlier this year, marking another critical step in his care.

Now in recovery, John is determined not just to heal, but to ease his mother’s burden and be a stronger support for his siblings as they grow.

But families like his cannot do it alone. Your support for the IJN Foundation Patient Assistance Programme is vital. Every contribution helps ease the cost of ongoing, life-saving treatment, giving patients like John the chance to recover, rebuild, and care for the ones who depend on them. Donate today and be part of a journey that saves lives.

Noor Qaseh Damiea, 15, has faced a complex heart condition since birth — a journey that has made her childhood different from that of many teenagers her age.

Qaseh was diagnosed with a complex cyanotic congenital heart disease known as DORV with pulmonary stenosis and Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). These conditions affect the normal flow of blood through her heart and can reduce the amount of oxygen reaching her body.

During her recent admission to IJN, Qaseh underwent major heart procedures, including LV-to-Aorta tunnelling to help improve blood flow through her heart. She also required an emergency dual-chamber permanent pacemaker (PPM) to help regulate her heart rhythm.

The cost of Qaseh’s treatment has placed a significant financial burden on her family. Her 50-year-old father, who works hard as a farmer, is the family’s main source of income, while her 34-year-old mother is a full-time housewife caring for the family.

For Qaseh, recovery may take time, but every day brings her one step closer to getting back to the life she loves.

With the kindness and generosity of our donors, Qaseh was able to receive the treatment she needed. After spending two weeks in the hospital, she was discharged in stable condition and is now recovering at home.

Your support has given Qaseh more than financial assistance and vital heart treatment — it has given her another chance to heal, recover, and look forward to brighter days ahead.

Meet Raykal, a 4-year-old boy, whose journey began with a complex heart condition from the very start of his life.

Raykal was diagnosed with AVSD, TGA, and Pulmonary Atresia — a combination of complex heart conditions where there is a structural defect in the heart, the major arteries are positioned differently, and the normal pathway for blood to reach the lungs is blocked. Together, these conditions affect how blood flows through his heart and to his lungs.

At just 23 days old, Raykal underwent PDA stenting to help maintain blood flow to his lungs. He was then referred to IJN, where he underwent a Glenn Shunt and Pulmonary Artery (PA) plasty, both of which were successfully performed.

Earlier this March, Raykal was admitted to IJN once again and underwent right and left heart catheterisation to assess his heart and blood vessels.

Behind Raykal’s long medical journey is a family doing everything they can to support him. His 31-year-old father, a factory designer and the sole breadwinner of the family, works hard to provide for his children and meet their daily needs. However, the cost of Raykal’s ongoing heart treatment has placed a significant financial burden on the family. His 30-year-old mother, a full-time housewife, stays at home to care for Raykal and his sibling.

With the generous support of IJN Foundation’s donors, Raykal has been able to receive the heart procedures and surgeries he needed from 2023 until today.

Today, Raykal has recovered from his recent procedure and is doing well under the loving care of his parents. Your support lasts longer than you think — it can help give a child the chance to grow stronger, dream bigger, and look forward to tomorrow.

His journey has not always been easy, but with every procedure, every recovery, and every day surrounded by love, Raykal continues to grow stronger.

At just 5 years old, this cheerful little boy has already overcome many challenges as a young heart patient. His family understands all too well the difficulties that come with living with a heart condition, as his 10-year-old sister is also living with one.

He was diagnosed with heterotaxy syndrome with restricted pulmonary blood flow (PBF), DORV with transposed great vessels, and valvular pulmonary stenosis — a complex combination of heart conditions that affects the way blood flows through his heart and to his lungs.

Last April, he was admitted to IJN and underwent a transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE), a specialised scan that allows doctors to closely examine the heart and its structures.

Behind his journey are his parents — his 39-year-old father, who works as an HR trainer, and his 39-year-old mother, a full-time housewife. Together, they continue to provide the love and care he needs as he grows.

Today, he is doing well and enjoying his childhood — running, playing, and having fun just like any other child his age.

For his family, seeing him smile, play, and simply enjoy being a child is a precious reminder that hope can give little hearts the strength to keep going.

Every heart has a story. Every child deserves the chance to live it.

You don’t always feel it right away.
A little less energy.
A slight headache.
Feeling off, without knowing why.

By the time you’re thirsty, your body is already playing catch-up.
It’s easy to forget. Easy to delay. “I’ll drink later.”

But small habits matter.
Staying hydrated helps your heart function more efficiently.

Through our Preventive Healthcare Programmes (PHP), we continue to encourage simple, everyday awareness because protecting your heart can start with something as basic as a glass of water.

Sip consistently. Don’t wait for the signs.

Nur Alesya, 16, is the youngest of two siblings, known for her warm smile and gentle nature. She comes from a hardworking family, with her father earning a living as a Grab driver while her mother works as a clinic assistant. Her parents spent their best effort to provide for the family. For Alesya’s parents, supporting their daughter through her lifelong heart condition has meant years of emotional and financial challenges, but they have continued to stand by her every step of the way.

Since birth, Alesya has been living with a complex congenital heart condition called Pulmonary Atresia with VSD, where blood cannot flow normally from the heart to the lungs due to a blocked pulmonary valve and a hole between the heart's chambers.

In February, Alesya underwent a major heart surgery known as DKS–RA-PA Conduit Upsizing to replace a heart-to-lung blood flow tube with a larger one, allowing better circulation and oxygen delivery as she grows. During the surgery, her family faced one of the most frightening moments of their lives when Alesya experienced severe blood loss and required intensive monitoring.

Alesya spent 19 days in the hospital and endured a long and challenging recovery. For two months, she was unable to speak or eat normally, and even simple movements became a challenge. Most days were spent lying in bed as her body slowly regained its strength.

But Alesya kept going.

Like any teenager, Alesya enjoys spending time with her friends and looking forward to her studies and the future ahead. However, her heart condition forced her to put these simple joys on hold. After nearly three months away from school, she finally returned to the classroom with a stronger heart and renewed hope for the future.

Alesya's journey is a testament to courage, resilience, and the life-changing impact of timely medical treatment. Your support can help young heart patients like Alesya continue receiving the care they need and give them the opportunity to pursue their dreams and live life to the fullest.

Adriana, only seven months old, is the youngest of four siblings in a family where both parents are working hard to provide for their children. Despite her tender age, she was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart condition involving a single unrestrictive doubly committed subarterial VSD, hypoplastic arch with severe coarctation, and a patent arterial duct.

In March this year, Adriana successfully underwent VSD closure and aortic arch repair, a major step forward in her treatment journey. However, her recovery has been challenging. Although her condition is stable, Adriana still requires oxygen support and close medical attention.

Her journey continues, as she remains under careful observation while slowly building strength each day.

Through support from the IJN Foundation Patient Assistance Programme, families like hers can receive vital assistance, giving Adriana hope and a fighting chance for a better quality of life.

You can be that beacon of hope for more underprivileged heart patients.
