IWCKL Celebrates with IWC Kuantan/Indera Mahkota on Their 39th Installation

Road trips, laughter, and sisterhood made for an unforgettable weekend as four representatives from the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur (IWCKL) President Sharon, Advisor Foong Pack, Committee Member Cindy, and member Angie Tai, headed for Kuantan on Saturday, 15th August 2026. The journey set the tone for the trip, packed with good food, shopping stops, and constant fun along the way.

The main highlight of the trip was attending the 39th Installation Dinner of the Inner Wheel Club of Kuantan/Indera Mahkota at The Rocana Hotel. Embracing the romantic theme "A Touch of Rose", guests were warmly welcomed with charming handmade rose tokens.

The evening was a resounding success, marked by emotional and heartfelt speeches as Outgoing President Samini handed the reins to the newly installed President Datin Sri Dr Suja and her Exco. The night sparkled with engaging quizzes, delicious food, and lively celebrations. IWCKL had extra reason to cheer when IWCKL's very own Advisor Foong Pack bagged a well-deserved Best Dressed award! The vibrant night concluded with everyone hitting the dance floor to celebrate the joyous occasion.

The warm hospitality didn't stop there. The next morning, the ladies from IWC Kuantan/Indera Mahkota joined the IWCKL ladies for breakfast and took them for a round of shopping trip before final goodbyes were exchanged.

District Chairman's Message – August 2026

Dear Inner Wheel Sisters,

As we welcome the month of August, I would like to reflect on an exciting and fulfilling July. It was truly a month of new beginnings, filled with opportunities to connect, learn, and grow together.

One of the highlights was getting to know our dedicated District Exco and the Club Executive Committees. We successfully established our official communication channels through WhatsApp groups, strengthening our connections and ensuring better coordination throughout the year.

Our District Exco also conducted a series of online briefing and training sessions for Club Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers, Club Correspondence and International Service Organiser. I am incredibly proud of our team for preparing and delivering engaging, informative and interactive sessions. Their commitment and teamwork were truly commendable.

What inspired me most was the enthusiasm and positive spirit shown by our Club Executive Committees. The excitement for this year's theme, "Grow and Flourish," was evident in every discussion. It is encouraging to see clubs already planning meaningful projects and expressing a strong desire to collaborate. This spirit of friendship, partnership and service is exactly what makes Inner Wheel so special.

July also marked the first Club Installation of the year, beautifully organised by IWC Kuala Lumpur with a James Bond theme. Although I was unable to attend due to my health, my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes go to President Sharon Tan and all the club members. I am confident they will have a wonderful and successful year of service, friendship and fellowship.

As we move into August, let us continue building on this momentum. Together, let us support one another, strengthen our friendships and create a lasting impact in our communities through meaningful service.

I wish every club a successful month ahead. May we continue to grow together, flourish together, and inspire one another every step of the way.

In Inner Wheel Friendship and Service,

Saraswathy Veloo
District Chairman

Shaken, Stirred, and Ready to Serve: IWCKL Ushers in a Bold New Era

The air was electric, the glamour was unmatched, and the mission was clear. On 11th July 2026, the Grand Ballroom of the Holiday Inn, Bangsar, was transformed into a high-stakes world of espionage and elegance for the 78th Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur’s (IWCKL) Installation Night, 007 James Bond-themed.

The evening officially shifted into high gear at 8.00pm with the arrival of the Guest of Honour and IWCKL Honorary Member, YA Bhg Toh Puan Dato’ Seri Hajjah Dr Aishah Ong, flanked by the newly appointed Executive Committee. Following a powerful rendition of the national anthem, Negaraku, the room stood united singing to the national anthem.

The VIP for the evening also included the President of the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja, President Seyed Ehsan Masourmi Eshkavari, and the First Lady of the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja, Dr. Nona Ashraf Zadeh, whose presence added immense grace to the occasion.

The charismatic emcee for the night—none other than President Sharon Tan’s talented daughter, Emerald Tan—kicked off the festivities by warmly welcoming the packed ballroom. The evening's formalities progressed beautifully with the Candle of Friendship symbolizing the fellowship and friendship of Inner Wheel. Formal Loyal Toasts were proudly raised to the DYMM King of Malaysia, DYMM Sultan Selangor, DYMM Yang DiPertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, and International Inner Wheel.

As a sumptuous dinner was served, the talented ladies of IWCKL took to the stage to perform the "Impossible Bond" dance routine, drawing thunderous applause from the crowd.

The emotional heart of the evening began with Outgoing President Pang Yoke Ling, who delivered an inspiring speech reflecting on her highly successful term. A captivating video presentation showcased the incredible milestones achieved during the 2025/2026 year.

After reading the bio-data of her successor, Outgoing President Pang officially passed the torch, placing the presidential collarette onto the newly appointed President, Sharon Tan. In turn, President Sharon pinned the Past President badge onto Immediate Past President Pang Yoke Ling, marking the official transition of leadership.

Taking the podium for her maiden speech, President Sharon Tan summarized her emotions in just two powerful words: thankful and grateful. After expressing deep appreciation to the Advisors and Executive Committee members for their unwavering support, she went on to thank the members of IWCKL for their generosity and stressed the importance of the members in making the Club relevant. She then proceeded to unveil a bold, compassionate roadmap for the 2026/2027 term by presenting the ongoing and upcoming projects. The Ice Cream Project, aptly named, bringing sheer joy to the brave children in the Pediatric Oncology Ward, University Malaya Medical Centre, Persatuan Kanak Kanak Istimewa Kajang and Old Folks Home, just to name a few.

President Sharon highlighted the heartbreaking plight of Malaysia's forgotten Orang Asli communities, who currently rely on contaminated water sources. Revealing that just one well can sustain an entire village, she shared a moving video showcasing the harsh realities these communities face. She announced the Presidential Project for 2026/2027 is "Hitting 100 Water Wells and Beyond".
She passionately urged everyone in attendance to make a tangible difference right in our own backyard. This initiative aligns perfectly with the new International Theme for 2026/2027: "Grow and Flourish"—a call to address the most critical needs in our local neighbourhoods to cultivate a heartfelt legacy of service.

Following the announcement, the newly minted 2026/2027 Executive Committee was invited to the stage, followed by a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony marking IWCKL’s 78th Anniversary, surrounded by the club's esteemed Past Presidents.

As the night progressed, the entertainment hit a fever pitch. Four spectacular IWCKL ladies left the audience breathless with a sultry, captivating performance to the classic tune "Fever."

But the absolute surprise for the night was a “Never Say Never” Tango performance by the newly installed President Sharon and her very own "James Bond"—her husband! The crowd erupted in delight at their chemistry and style and was informed by the emcee that they both never had any formal lessons!

The memorable night concluded with high spirits, laughter, and a packed dance floor as members and guests danced the night away. With glamour, a heart for service, and a new leader at the helm, the Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur is officially ready to Grow, Flourish, and change lives in 2026/2027!

IWCKL First General Meeting 2026/2027 : A New Chapter of “Grow & Flourish”
2nd July 2026, The Oval Room, Royal Selangor Club, Kiara

The Inner Wheel Club of Kuala Lumpur officially began its new term 2026/2027 with a meaningful First General Meeting at the Oval Room, Royal Selangor Club, Kiara.

The inaugural meeting was chaired by President Sharon Tan, who opened with warm President’s Greetings and welcomed all members to the new Inner Wheel year, highlighting that the club is nothing without its members.

A special highlight of the afternoon was the handing over of the President’s Collarette by Immediate Past President Pang Yoke Ling to President Sharon Tan, witnessed by all members present. It was a proud moment symbolizing continuity, trust, and the start of a new journey together.

President Sharon then introduced the new Exco for 2026/2027 :
- Vice President : Corina Pang
- Immediate Past President : Pang Yoke Ling
- Honorary Secretary : Ten Sew Keoh
- Honorary Treasurer : Yuette Loh
- Club Correspondent : Angelene Lim
- International Service Organiser : Navam Kumaresan
- Committee Members : Anna Chua, Cindy Ching, Datin Brenda, Datin Regina, Linda Lim, and Pn Sri Nora Marzuki

To mark the occasion, President Sharon presented each Exco and Committee member with a custom-made bag with their names — a thoughtful keepsake to begin the term.

The meeting was made even more special with the induction of two new members, Jessy Hew and Michelle Kong with a transfer member Yeok San, Cheng. We warmly welcome them to the IWCKL family.

Moving into the business of the year, President Sharon shared the IWCKL upcoming projects and focus areas. The main Presidential Project for the term is to hit 100 Fresh Water Wells for the Orang Asli communities in Malaysia.

She shared why this project was chosen: water is a basic need and should not be a luxury : yet something many of us in the city take for granted. More than 50% of the Orang Asli population still do not have clean piped water. Many rely on river water contaminated by upstream logging and mining, which has led to skin diseases and parasite infections affecting 90% of children.

President Sharon hopes with IWCKL to hit 100 wells this term and continue beyond that, so IWCKL can truly improve lives to live out our International Theme — Grow & Flourish — through Community and International Service, by directly addressing needs in our local neighbourhood.

The evening ended on a high note, with members coming together to sing birthday and anniversary songs, celebrating in the true spirit of Inner Wheel friendship and fellowship.

Here’s to a year of service, sisterhood, and Grow & Flourish with IWCKL 2026/2027.
