Take a teatime break during the KL Festival with migrant workers and refugees who live or work in the city.

There’ll be tea/coffee and snacks from six different countries, and stories enough to fill your weekend. Stories of moving, of leaving behind, of staying.

So come grab a cup of tea and sit with the often unseen people of KL, in an almost forgotten building, to rest and imagine something new together.

To register, scan the QR in the last slide or link in bio.

During Ramadan our refugee and migrant friends learned this: Malaysian university students today are kind and open!

Students from ’s School of Politics and International Relations (SPIRNOTT) .unm invited us to break fast with them. Aside from sharing traditional Iftar fare, it was also a time to exchange stories. Many of these stories were personal experiences of displacement and insecurity. But the SPIRNOTT students created a safe space where everyone could be vulnerable and learn from each other’s experiences.

It was an Iftar to remember for all.

If you’d like to organise a student activity like this, DM us!

That time we brought migrant and refugee students to share food with Malaysian students from

There were over a dozen dishes, each holding memories of family, migration, and resilience. By the end of the day, tears were shed. We omitted those shots out of respect for those involved.

We organised a potluck party that was free to attend, as long as you brought a dish that relates to your personal migration story. In the end, over 20 people signed up, and together we created a buffet spread with food from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Myanmar, Palestine, and of course from various Malaysian cultures too.

After the meal, guests learned about hate speech, and how it affects migrant worker and refugee communities. So there was food for the stomach, and food for thought.

Organised in collaboration with .my, who also trained us on strategies to combat hate speech earlier.

Want to join our next potluck? Follow us .my for updates.

When a potluck table is a map of our diversity | Around 20 Universiti Malaya students from organised a multicultural potluck with migrant workers and refugees, where everyone brought a dish that reflects their personal migration story. We learned that even among Malaysian students, there was so much diversity - students were able to trace their ancestry to Java, Bandung, Siam, Kerala and more.

Thank you and for having us!
