Third Plenary Session
MADPHS 17th Annual General Meeting & Scientific Conference 2026

Our appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haslina Rani, Head of Industry and Community Partnership Affairs, Faculty of Dentistry, UKM, for the insightful plenary session on “Awareness to Action: Health Literacy as the Foundation for Empowerment.”

The session highlighted how oral health literacy goes beyond sharing information. It is about helping communities understand, appraise, and apply health information in everyday decisions. It also reminded us that empowerment requires clear communication, trust, patient-centred care, and health systems that are easier for people to navigate.

A meaningful closing plenary that strongly reflects the MADPHS 2026 theme, “Empowering Communities, Advancing Oral Health Equity.”

Second Plenary Session
MADPHS 17th Annual General Meeting & Scientific Conference 2026

The second plenary session by Dr Muhammed Anis Bin Abd Wahab, Head of Healthcare Sustainability and Assurance, ProtectHealth Corporation, brought an important perspective on how prevention, financing, and community empowerment are closely connected in shaping a more equitable oral healthcare system.

The session encouraged deeper reflection on moving beyond treatment-based approaches towards prevention-first strategies, value-based oral healthcare, strategic purchasing, and more sustainable models that improve access and affordability for communities.

This discussion strongly resonates with the MADPHS 2026 theme, “Empowering Communities, Advancing Oral Health Equity”, as we continue exploring practical ways to strengthen oral health systems for the future.
