Did you know that Royal Belum State Park, spanning 128,272 hectares, is one of the most ecologically significant tiger landscapes in Southeast Asia and among the last remaining habitats of the critically endangered Malayan tiger?
At the forefront of efforts to save our tigers are 150 Orang Asli Rangers. Navigating by GPS devices, they carry all their own kit to scale the forests for signs of poachers and snares as well as set hundreds of camera traps to monitor the status of wildlife and threats in the landscape. They brave adverse weather and rough terrain, sometimes even being swept down rivers. Their dedicated efforts have borne fruit: Reduced snaring by more than 90% in Royal Belum, with zero active snares recorded since 2022—protecting tigers from one of their deadliest threats.
