AMEC Signs Memorandum of Cooperation with the Libyan Research and Studies Center

The Asia Middle East Center for Research and Dialogue (AMEC) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the Libyan Research and Studies Center (LRSC), marking an important step toward strengthening academic collaboration and policy dialogue between the two institutions.

The Memorandum was signed in Istanbul by Dr. Muslim Imran, Director of AMEC, and Mr. Mahmoud Algetmi, Chairperson of the Libyan Research and Studies Center.

The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including joint research projects, conferences, seminars, workshops, publications, academic exchanges, and the sharing of expertise on regional and international issues.

AMEC looks forward to working closely with LRSC to promote high-quality research, meaningful dialogue, and collaborative initiatives that contribute to greater understanding and sustainable development across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

AMEC Director, Dr. Muslim Imran, participated as a panelist in the Azm Global Leadership (AGL) discussion, "Shaping the New Muslim World: Malaysia and Beyond."

The session featured Malaysian Higher Education Minister HE Senator Dato' Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry bin Abdul Kadir, and Malaysian Education Minister HE YB Fadhlina binti Sidek, and was moderated by Omar AlTamimi. The discussion examined key issues shaping the evolving role of Malaysia and the wider Muslim world in an increasingly complex global landscape.

AMEC extends its appreciation to Azm Global Leadership for the invitation and for convening a timely and substantive dialogue.

Great energy at the AMEC office as we hosted our first training session for our new interns from France!

Last weekend, AMEC participated in the 5th IISRA Annual Conference—Counter-Islamophobia: History, Theory, and Praxis—co-hosted by the PEDIXS Centre at IIUM in Kuala Lumpur.

The message from global scholars was clear and urgent: Islamophobia is not a peripheral issue. From everyday microaggressions to the devastating realities of genocide we are witnessing today, anti-Muslim racism is deeply embedded in state policies and institutional structures worldwide.

Alongside practitioners from Brazil to Lebanon, the UK to Myanmar, we examined both the expanding reach of this crisis and the frameworks needed to meaningfully dismantle it.

We also want to send a huge congratulations to our brilliant AMEC Fellows, Mumtaza Chairannisa and Saul Takahashi, who took the stage as presenters!
