We're clearing some space and have plenty of beautiful Taro/Elephant Ear plants looking for a new home! If you're looking to add some dramatic tropical flair to your garden, come by and grab one (or two!) while supplies last.

First come, first served! DM for the exact location.

Did you know? Taro plants are some of the world's oldest cultivated crops! The large leaves act as giant water collectors, funnelling any rain directly down to the root system. 🌧️🌿

A look into what we’ve accomplished together this past month! July was an absolute powerhouse for the garden’s growth and transformation. From planting fresh greenery and harvesting vibrant blooms to hauling supplies, managing compost, maintaining our lush spaces, and building new facilities for, our community has truly outdone itself!

🌿 Our July Wins:
Flourishing Spaces: We planted, tended to, and harvested fresh greens and gorgeous flowers.

Hard Work & Upkeep: Members rolled up their sleeves to prune overgrown branches, manage the compost, and haul supplies.

Unstoppable Teamwork: Every single person brought incredible energy to keep our garden thriving and beautiful.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, got their hands dirty, and made this July unforgettable. We are growing stronger together! 🌻💚

Thanks to our dedicated residents and partners, our community compost pile is thriving! 🌱✨

To keep it healthy, balanced, and odor-free, please remember what we can and cannot accept in our open system:

💚 WE ACCEPT:
☕ Coffee grounds & filters
🍌 Vegetable & fruit scraps/peels
🥚 Eggshells & clean cartons
📰 Shredded newspaper
🍂 Organic yard waste (leaves & grass clippings)

🚫 DO NOT ACCEPT:
🐟 Meat & fish
🛢️ Oily or greasy foods
🍲 Cooked meals/table scraps
🐾 Pet waste

Composting does more than just enrich our garden soil—it reduces landfill waste and harmful methane emissions, protecting our environment! 🌍🌿 It’s also a fantastic way for families and neighbors to bond over a shared, sustainable goal. 🤝🏡

Have scraps to drop off? Stop by anytime, we have 4 bins located at the bottom and at the top of the slope! 🙏🎉

A massive thanks to Dorsett Hotel Hartamas for dropping off 73kg of their food waste at our garden today 🙂, contributing towards a greener future. 🌍✨

By diverting this 73kg from landfills and turning it into active soil, we aren't just helping the garden's plants thrive 🌿, we're also actively reducing harmful methane gas emissions and creating a greener and more sustainable environment. 🌱👏

If there is food waste you want to contribute to the community garden 🍅🥕, you can drop it off at one of our 4 bins located at either the top or the bottom of the slope . We do not accept meat or oil related items as they attract the wrong type of visitors.

We’ve all been there: watching our favorite plants suffer under the scorching tropical sun, battling a vegetable patch overflowing with weeds, or seeing our garden sag from a lack of nutrients.

The solution? Mulch—a powerful 3-in-1 method that solves multiple plant problems at once:

Prevents Soil Baking: It acts as a thermal shield that protects the soil from extreme heat and preserves beneficial bacteria from dying off 🦠.

Suppresses Weeds : It blocks sunlight ☀️, suffocating hardy weeds and preventing them from germinating 🌱.

Better late than never! 😅 Life has been busy, but we couldn't let the week slip by without showing off the incredible harvest we pulled from the kebun last Saturday.

From fresh bananas and sun-ripened papayas to eggplants and more, our baskets were completely full! We want to give a huge thanks to all the community members and volunteers who came down to help us harvest and maintain the kebun. We couldn't do it without your hands and hard work. 💚🌿

While we often see our own fur babies 🐈 or strays wandering around the neighborhood, finding this little visitor resting peacefully under the canopy 🌳 is something truly special.

We view this feline friend choosing our garden as a testament to the effort we’ve invested in permaculture practices 🌱♻️. Creating a pesticide-free, sheltered, and biodiverse green space 🌻 not only helps our plants thrive 🌿 but also makes our kebun a welcoming sanctuary for the local urban wildlife 🦊🐦.

Fresh harvest update from Kebun Komuniti Hartamas! 🌿🍌

The bananas we’ve been waiting on have finally ripened and been harvested. As a huge thank you, we’re sharing them with our wonderful community and volunteers who made this urban farming success possible. 💚

Want to volunteer and join us this Saturday? We’re looking for extra hands for our community garden activities—especially anyone with a strong arm, as we’ll be moving lots of soil bags to top up our garden reserves! 🌱

⏰ When: Every Tuesday & Saturday, 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM 🤝 Details: We’re a friendly community garden group, and we always share the fresh organic harvest with everyone who pitches in!
