We are deeply saddened to hear the news of chi too's passing. Alongside Factual TV's Hon Yuen Leong, he was integral to the production of our documentary videos. Here he was in action, filming our team coming out of a dive.

Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.

We at Project PULIH always believe in the power of science communication to impart knowledge and raise awareness on the conservation of marine ecosystems. This show presents a unique way to convey the importance of seagrass ecosystems (which are under threat!), and it is through performing arts!

We are proud to announce Rhythm in Bronze's new gamelan theater production, SERUAN SETU! 🌊🌿

This show is a call to action ('seruan') for the protection of this incredibly important yet often overlooked ecosystem in our oceans: the seagrass.

Just like their land counterparts, seagrasses form beautiful gardens in the sea that serve as key habitats for marine creatures and as resources for the livelihoods of coastal communities. We named our show after the tape seagrass, also known as "setu" in the Malay language, which is at risk of disappearing from our shores if we don't act now!

Join us for an unforgettable experience that combines contemporary gamelan music, theater, and conservation science to promote a deeper understanding of the wonders of seagrass. 🎭

Today is which calls for action to raise awareness on the critically important marine ecosystem - coral reefs!

One of our own in , Affendi Yang Amri together with Sebastian Szereday of Coralku and Alvin Chelliah of Reef Check Malaysia spoke about the many facades of coral reef restoration in Malaysia - the good, the bad and the ugly on BFM Earth Matters podcast.

Affendi highlighted that reef restoration can be a "double-edged sword" -- when not done correctly and with the right intentions, it can do more damage or can be misused. Sebastian also raised to need to have scientific understanding of the reef site prior to starting reef restoration efforts. Alvin noted the importance of engaging with local communities to ensure a successful and sustainable reef restoration effort.
All of them unanimously agreed that preservation of coral reefs should be prioritized as restoration efforts are seen as a last resort.

We are beyond delighted and proud that our Dr. Jillian Ooi is one of 6 researchers selected as a 2022 — 's community of global experts working to preserve our ocean!

The Pew Fellows Program in Marine Conservation provides fellowships to outstanding scientists undertaking research that will directly address ocean conservation and management needs around the world. With this grant, Dr. Jillian will be continuing Project PULIH's mission to enhance the restoration of marine ecosystems by expanding to seagrass meadows.
