21 Sep - FFS distributed food packs and burgers in Tumpat Kelantan for villagers living on islands only accessible by boat. There are about 3,000 people living on 12 islands here. Each pack contains rice, cooking oil, beehoon, biscuits, potatoes, flour etc. The distribution was organised by Encik Lan who acts like the community’s ‘Tok Penghulu Bahagian Pembantu’. He is an OKU and the last photo shows his mode of transport.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Perlis Plantations Berhad (PPB)

Free Food Society (FFS) would like to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to PPB for generously sponsoring meals for the children attending our tuition programme.

Through PPB’s continued support, the children receive 3 nutritious meals every week — 12 meals each month during their tuition sessions. This meaningful contribution not only helps ensure that the children do not attend classes on an empty stomach, but also creates a more positive and supportive learning environment for them.

Over the past months, the children have enjoyed a variety of delicious meals, including nasi lemak, wanpaku sandwiches, mee goreng, spaghetti and macaroni goreng. Each meal has been received with great excitement and appreciation by the children.

More than just providing food, PPB’s generosity gives these children the energy to learn, focus and participate actively in their classes. It is a wonderful example of how corporate support can make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families in the community.

Thank you, PPB, for being part of the FFS journey and for nourishing not only the children’s bodies, but also their hopes and potential.

With sincere gratitude.

15 Aug - FFS organized a fund raising event to celebrate the culmination of an English drama program sponsored by Yayasan Lim Yee Hoh and supported by PJ Speech and Drama Centre. This drama program is part of FFS tuition program for the B40 children at PPR Desa Rejang. The event showcased students who participated in the drama class over a 6 month period.

What made this journey especially meaningful to FFS is seeing the children not only learn English, but gain the confidence to speak it — clearly, proudly and in front of an audience. Many of them once struggled to put an English sentence together. Seeing them now stand on stage, perform, speak and express themselves in English is a powerful reminder of what opportunity and encouragement can achieve..
We are also thankful to Encik Rosali, a resident at the PPR who was born without both hands yet lovingly created the children’s costumes.
The whole event was conducted in English from MC to speeches to performances. The narrators and performers are all students of FFS tuition program while the MC was their tutor.

Can a child think about studying on an empty stomach?

We feed the children first; then we teach them.
