Maritime Trade Risk & Shipping Compliance Forum – Malaysia 2026 held on 28th April 2026 at The Westin Kuala Lumpur marked the beginning of ICC Malaysia's (ICCM) collaboration with Lloyds List Intelligence. Topics were related to evolving trade risk environment, regulatory and compliance requirements, and how are bolstering their controls while managing disjointed data, operational complexity, and the increasing demand for quicker, more convincing decision-making.

The forum was structured across two focused sessions, designed for professionals across maritime, trade finance, compliance, risk, and shipping markets.

ICCM member banks had the privilege to attend session on "Trade Risk & Compliance" with Mr Andre Lee (ICCM Board member) and Tuan Haji Zuheer bin Mohammad Majid (ICC Banking - Technical sub-committee Chairman) serving as panelists for the forum.

Late Payment Interest Under CIPAA:
Court of Appeal Clarifies the Jurisdictional Line In Mayfair Ventures

BRIEF OVERVIEW: The Court of Appeal has drawn a clear jurisdictional line under CIPAA: late payment interest cannot stand on its own. Once the principal sum has been paid, interest cannot be pursued independently in adjudication. Instead, it is recoverable only where it is ancillary to a valid claim for unpaid work or services rendered.
