Milk is built to make a calf grow fast, so it’s packed with growth signals. When we drink it, it raises a hormone called IGF-1 and spikes insulin, and both can push your skin’s oil glands into overdrive. More oil plus faster-growing skin cells is just what can clog pores and trigger breakouts.

If your skin has been acting up, the easiest test is free: swap dairy milk for a plant one. Oat froths like dairy, soy’s got the protein, almond’s light, and coconut sits nicely in your kopi. Give it a few weeks and see what your skin does!

Pasumpaal was sacred because the relationship was sacred. Small farms, free-grazing cows, calves at their mothers’ side. Gomatha, the cow revered as a mother, gave what she could and was cared for in return.

That was then.

Today she’s an industry. Kept pregnant to keep producing, separated from her calves, sent to slaughter the moment her milk slows. Every litre of pasumpaal, every spoon of nei comes from the same system.

Here’s the part that matters: you can keep all of it. Local soy milk costs about the same as fresh cow’s milk, and works for tea, payasam, and ponggal. Even for abhishekam, soy or coconut milk pours the same way, and coconut water and rosewater have always been part of the tradition.

Protecting Gomatha used to mean caring for her. Now it means choosing what we buy.

Stress eating isn’t just a human thing. When the body is overwhelmed, it reaches for what feels familiar. For crabs in boiling water, that means feeding until the very end.

Plant-based versions of most local favorites already exist. Even just one swap a week is a good place to start. 🦀

We eat what we inherited. Hindus see a cow as sacred, others see it as steak. A Muslim wouldn’t touch pork, but a Chinese chef braises it.

Eating meat was handed down to us by people who didn’t know what we know now about its impact on our health and the earth.

Decades of research now show what eating it costs us, which means we can choose differently. Not perfectly, not all at once. Even just one plant-based meal a week is a start.

Wu-Tang Clan isn’t just one of the greatest hip hop groups of all time. Some might say, they are the blueprint.

A group out of Staten Island who rewrote the rules of rap, built a global empire, and influenced countless artists who came after them.

The name Wu-Tang itself comes from kung fu, and Shaolin monks have been eating plant-based for centuries. For this group, it was never a trend; it was always part of the philosophy.

Kidney failure is one of the slowest, most preventable health crises in Malaysia.

Most of it is shaped years earlier by the kadang-kadang je choices—what we drink, what we cook, what we reach for at the mamak.

The food doing the damage and the food that protects you sit on the same menu. Swipe to meet them 👉
