Young Athletes Program with IDEAS Autism Centre, Port Dickson brought movement, play and plenty of smiles to the beach! 🌊🏖️

We were also joined by 10 UPS volunteers, who brought energy and encouragement throughout the session!

Young Athlete Program is an inclusive play programme that introduces young children with and without ID, age 2–7, to movement, play and basic sports skills.

From a warm-up led by our athletes, to a Unified Futsal coaching session, and exciting matches on the court, every moment showcased the spirit of Unified Sports®—where athletes with and without intellectual disabilities train and play as teammates.

When we step out together, inclusion isn’t just a concept—it’s an action. 👟✨

On July 17th, Special Olympics Malaysia and Baker Hughes brought community and corporate partnership to life with a joint Unified Walkathon! Bringing together up to 100 employees and 23 Special Olympics athletes. This wasn't just a walk—it was an experience in shared purpose. Along the route, teams went through 5 team-building station games that required collaboration, problem-solving, and mutual support across all abilities.

Unified Sports and activities break down stereotypes by bringing people with and without intellectual disabilities together on the same playing field. When corporate step out to walk alongside our athletes, they don't just support inclusion—they live it.

From the field to a partnership ⚽🤝✨

The excitement from our Inclusive Futsal Event didn't end with the final whistle—it marked the beginning of a new partnership as we officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) on 11 July 2026.

This partnership is more than a signed agreement—it's a shared vision to build unity and empower athletes.

The MoU was signed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chook Ka Joo, Vice President of TAR UMT, and B**g Koi Sin, President of Special Olympics Malaysia, with Prof. Dr. Ler Hui Yin, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of TAR UMT, and Connie Yee, National Director of Special Olympics Malaysia, serving as witnesses.

Choose to Include, Play Unified!⚽️✨

On 11 July, the energy was unmatched at our Inclusive Futsal Event! On the pitch, barriers disappeared, and inclusion took over. Through Unified Sports®, athletes with and without intellectual disabilities played side by side as teammates, showing that sport has the power to unite us all.

Thank you to our Unified Partners from Lions International District 308 B1 – Leo Club of Victory Heights, Leo Club of KLCC, and Leo Club of Brickfields Asia College (BAC) for demonstrating what true inclusion looks like both on and off the court.

We extend our appreciation to Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) for partnering with us on this event and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
