🌟 A Heartwarming Update from Our Reloved Library Beneficiary 🌟
We recently received this touching message from a teacher at a refugee school in Batu Caves — the beneficiary of our Reloved Library (Toy Library) project — and we wanted to share it with you:
---
*“Hi ShareAngel,
I just wanted to take a moment to share with you how the first month of the Toy Library at Empower Learning System has gone — all thanks to your kindness and generosity.
Over the past four weeks, around 80–90 children have taken part in the program. Between them, they borrowed roughly the same number of toys — and oh, the excitement when they get to ‘buy’ a toy with their little stick currency!
The children have been brilliant at bringing the toys back. Our return rate is about 98% on time, with just a few (around 2%) being a little late. We did have about 10–15 toys returned with some damage, but that’s been a great learning moment — we spoke to parents, reminded everyone about taking care of the toys, and the results have been even better since.
What’s been most special for me is the personal connection this has created with the children. They now recognize me as ‘the toy girl.’ Sometimes, when I’m walking on the road and a student spots me, they excitedly shout to their mom, ‘Mom! That’s the toy girl — she’s the one who gives us toys!’ It’s the sweetest thing.
After our orientation, when I went back into the classrooms to set up the Toy Library again, the children rushed up to me over and over, asking, ‘When are we getting the toys? When are we getting the toys?’ Their enthusiasm is contagious.
Honestly, I had expected that many toys might not come back — but I was pleasantly surprised to see such a high success rate. It’s been amazing to witness how seriously they take their responsibility, and how proud they are to return the toys on time.
Interestingly, we noticed that some toys were much more popular than others. The most borrowed items were soft toys, cars, hard toys, dolls, bags, and coloring books — these flew off the shelves! On the other hand, reading books and storybooks were borrowed the least. It was a little surprising, but it’s also a great insight for us to plan future activities that might encourage more interest in books.
Since I told them that we’re also building towards something fun — at the end of the three-month program, children who’ve cared for their toys and collected the most sticks will be invited to a special celebration event. You should see how motivated they are already!
ShareAngel, I can’t thank you enough. Your gift has brought joy into so many homes and created so many smiles. You’ve helped make learning playful and meaningful for these children.”*

Reading this reminds us why we started the Reloved Library initiative — to give preloved items a second life, spark joy, and create meaningful learning experiences for children. 💕
Together, let’s continue bringing more joy and happiness to these children! 💪💪🎉🎉
