Santisukharama Meditation KT -Malaysia- It's a place open to all people to practice meditation in the Buddhist Theravada Vipassana tradition Sujiva in 1982. Mahasi Sayadaw of Burma.

About Santisukharama

Santisukharama is a Vipassana (Insight) meditation centre founded by Ven. It was officially declared open in 1984 by Ven. Sayadaw U Panditabhivamsa, the then head of the Mahasi Meditation Center in Rangoon, Burma. The centre is open all year through and provides facilities for Vipassana yogis who wish to undergo a period of intensive meditation retreat. The method of meditation taught here is Vipassana meditation which is in line with the method taught by the late Ven. This is a method that is based on the scriptural texts handed down among the Elders of the Theravada tradition. The centre consists primarily of two buildings build within a 7.5 acres land of cultivated forest. The land is surrounded by palm-oil and rubber estates, with lots of fresh air and nature. As such it provides a peaceful and conducive environment suitable for long term meditation practice. This befits its name, Santisukharama, which means Grove or hermitage of peaceful bliss, a place for all yogis who wish to strive to realise that peaceful bliss which is Nibbana, the ultimate cessation of all suffering. The centre is located about 3km away from Kota Tinggi town which is about 42km north-east of Johor Bahru in Johore, the southern most state in Peninsula Malaysia. On July 26, 2026, the long-awaited grand opening of the stupa at Santisukharama Meditation Centre was joyfully accomplished led by Bhante Sujiva.

With the Vassa underway, we look forward to the almsround (pindapada) in Kota Tinggi. Ven. Gavesi recently led the pindapada through Taman Kota Jaya and Kota Besar where locals generously and respectfully offered food to the monk.

The day began in the morning with the Pindapata alms round led by Sayadaw Asabhacara, followed by beautiful floral offerings and the bathing of the Buddha.
