What an incredible, action-packed weekend for the KKTMC family at the District Conference! We came, we learned, we cheered, and we definitely ate. 🍜

Here’s a quick wrap-up of our amazing journey:
🎙️ We leveled up our public speaking skills with invaluable insights from legendary speakers like DTM Fursey Gotuaco and DTM Sasha Li!
🏆 Division K Pride: Massive congratulations to our very own Division K's Clarence Tessensohn for dominating the District Level Contests! He brought home Champion in International Speech Contest, 2nd Place in Table Topics Contest and Evaluation Contest respectively. We couldn't be prouder! 🙌🔥

🌍 Global Connections: We loved bonding with old friends, making new ones, and even grabbing a precious moment to chat with our International President, DTM Aletta Rochat!

🥟 Sibu Eats: Of course, no trip is complete without food. We ate our way through the town, and yes—the legendary kompia lived up to the hype! It’s a strict must-not-miss! 🤤

Our hearts (and stomachs) are completely full. Thank you to the organizers and everyone who made this experience so magical.

Until next year... Kuching, we are coming for you! 🐱✈️

History came alive at our Lessons from History meeting! 🍰⚔️

The evening began with an intriguing Invocation by Jervie on the Pastry War of 1838, reminding us how even the smallest conflicts can escalate into major historical events. Acting President Ben then warmly welcomed everyone before Toastmaster of the Evening Jonathan George took charge with an energetic history-themed quiz that had members and guests testing their knowledge of world history. 🌍🧠

The Prepared Speech session brought a wonderful mix of inspiration and storytelling. Ben reflected on shifting his focus from seeking applause to creating impact through NGO work, while Dr. Desmond entertained the audience with humorous and vivid stories about India. Munir wrapped up the session with a thoughtful presentation on membership growth, featuring interviews across generations of club members. 🎤✨

After the break, Table Topics Master Adi introduced a fun debate-style session around the motion: “It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.” ❤️🔥 Participants delivered passionate arguments that kept the audience thoroughly engaged.

The meeting concluded with insightful evaluations and valuable feedback, ending on a powerful reminder that history is filled with lessons worth remembering. Thank you to all members and guests who made the evening lively, meaningful, and memorable! 🙌📚

We explored the beauty of the everyday at our meeting titled "A Very Normal Meeting." Led by TM Ejinn, we were reminded that the skills we sharpen within these four walls are tools for life. The evening opened with a poignant reflection from Dr. Cheryl, who was moved by the breathtaking KK sunset. She reminded us that "normal" moments are easily taken for granted and urged us to remain thankful for the simple wonders that surround us.

The prepared speech segment showcased diverse leadership and communication styles. TM Jonathan shared his belief that leadership is more than just getting things done, it is about growing people. TM Munir tackled a challenging Managing a Difficult Audience project by presenting his perspectives on MH370, while DTM Jasmine Leong inspired us with her journey toward a Piano Grade 8 Distinction. Her core message resonated deeply: "Leadership is about influencing, nothing more, nothing less."

The energy remained high through the second half, with Guest Joel, Dr. Jane, Guest Isaac, and Dr. Cheryl delivering Table Topics responses filled with wit and humour. Our speech evaluators, DTM Nicky Peter, DTM Joanna, and DTM Abu Bakar provided the "spot-on" feedback we are known for, while TM Ze Wen delivered a masterclass in analysis, earning him the Most Outstanding Evaluator award.

To close the night, Dr. Melody distilled the evening into three vital learning points: the power of analogies in storytelling, the importance of not taking "normal" for granted, and a three-step formula for success: "Visualize, Write it down, and Take action." It was a powerful reminder that growth happens in the consistency of our "normal" efforts.

Our “36th Charter Night” meeting was a momentous celebration of KKTMC’s 36-year legacy. It was an evening of deep connection, honoring the growth and the many lives transformed since our journey began.

DTM Abu Bakar Sheriff served as our Toastmaster of the Evening, leading with a seasoned grace that perfectly bridged our club's rich history with its vibrant future. His presence set a dignified tone for this milestone anniversary. 🎉

The stage was filled with inspiration as Brandon and Dr. Desmond Yap both delivered heartfelt Ice Breakers, marking the start of their promising speaking journeys. Joining them, Bryan Stacy shared an engaging speech that left the audience with meaningful reflections on perspective.

The energy remained high during Table Topics, where DTM Joanna Liew challenged our wits with thought-provoking prompts, sparking laughter and spontaneous brilliance. We wrapped up by honoring our award winners: Dr. Desmond Yap (Best Speaker), Ben Lim (Best Table Topics), and Chuan Ze Wen (Best Evaluator).

That evening, we honoured the legacy built over nearly four decades. As we look ahead, we remain committed to strengthening KKTMC for the many years of growth yet to come. ✨

Trust is more than just a "soft skill" - it is the foundation of every successful collaboration. Whether it’s your internal self-talk or your interactions with the public, trust is the critical competency that drives results.

As we strive to be better leaders, Ze Wen reminds us that trust isn't just a "soft skill" - it’s a critical competency. Without it, we pay a “Trust Tax” of friction and stagnant growth. But when we lead with credibility, we earn “Trust Dividends,” allowing us to reach our goals faster and build more fulfilling relationships. 🍀

What we will explore together:
🤝 How to turn the "vague" idea of trust into practical solutions.
🤝 The four aspects of credibility to build unshakeable self-confidence.
🤝 Habits to re-establish trust when it’s been lost.

Don't let the "Trust Tax" hold you back. Master the competency that drives every decision and relationship.
