(Kota Kinabalu) The Youth Section of the Kota Kinabalu Lung Yen Association successfully organised the “Donate Blood, Share Warmth” Blood Donation Drive on Sunday, 29 March 2026, at City Mall, Kota Kinabalu. The event received an encouraging response from the public, attracting a total of 125 registrants, of whom 103 successfully donated blood, achieving a commendable success rate of 82.4%.
The successful implementation of this event was made possible through the strong support and selfless contributions of various parties. The Youth Section Leader, Ms. Temmy Chang, extended her sincere appreciation to the Blood Bank team from Queen Elizabeth Hospital II, including Puan Lorna, Dr. Isfahani, Encik Sabri, and all medical personnel from the Transfusion Department, for their professionalism and efficient coordination in ensuring the smooth conduct of the blood donation process.
The Youth Section also wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors and contributors for their generous support. Special thanks are extended to the venue sponsor, City Mall, as well as to Tan Kien Chong Sdn. Bhd., K2 Life Water, D**g Sin Sdn. Bhd., Lui Kim Chook Sdn. Bhd., Nibong Tebal Paper Mill Sdn. Bhd., Teck Guan Trading Sdn. Bhd., Hin Gen Sdn. Bhd., WSG Group, Fulline Bakery, Tuan Yuan Bakery, and the generous individuals Mr. Xu Jian Xiong, Ms. Monica, and Ms. Xu Li Bing for sponsoring goodie bag items and essential supplies, which contributed significantly to the success and meaningfulness of the event.
In addition, Ms. Chang conveyed her sincere appreciation to the Executive Committee (2025–2028) of the Kota Kinabalu Lung Yen Association, led by President Mr. Wong Vui Khim, as well as members of the Women’s Section and all Youth Section members for their active participation and unwavering support. From planning to ex*****on, all members carried out their responsibilities with dedication and professionalism, demonstrating strong teamwork and commitment. She emphasised, “Without the collective effort and cooperation of all parties, this blood donation drive would not have achieved such a successful outcome.”
This initiative not only contributed meaningfully to replenishing the nation’s blood supply but also reflected the spirit of community solidarity, compassion, and care for human life.
According to hospital personnel, local hospitals in Kota Kinabalu require approximately 1,000 pints of blood each month, while many patients remain in urgent need of transfusions. In view of the persistent shortage of blood supply, the blood collected from this campaign is expected to be utilised promptly to meet clinical demands.
The Youth Section of the Kota Kinabalu Lung Yen Association hopes that this initiative will encourage more Chinese associations and community organisations to organise similar blood donation drives, thereby mobilising greater community participation and contributing collectively towards the well-being of society.
