The Federation of Malaysian Chinese Association was officially registered on the 13th December 1991 and from then onward the Chinese Cultural Festival is sponsored by the Federation, and the hosting is rotated among the 13 states. In the 10th Cultural Festival in Kedah in 1993, the name was changed to "National Chinese Cultural Festival" to signify the continuation of National Chinese Cultural traditions. The Cultural Torch was transferred across South China Sea to Sabah for the first time on 27th November 1995 as it was our turn to organize. YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad was the Guest of Honour to officiate the grand opening in Kota Kinabalu. After 16 years, the Cultural Torch is coming back again, and we have the honour to invite our YAB Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak to officiate the Grand Opening Ceremony in November.
