CHRONOLOGY
1938 – Albert Stephen Ignatius Gispert aka “ G “ an English chartered accountant with Evatt & Co. He started up the harriers group from among bachelors of the day resident at Selangor Club Chambers. He also conceived the alliterative name Hash House Harriers. The “hash house” was the jocular term for which the dining room annex was known. The “hash” never really ran from this location b
ut rather on the outskirts of KL. Most trails were set in the vast rubber estates and palm oil plantations. However, many post-run gatherings and celebration dinners (i.e. Run 100) were held at the hash house. Some of which were reported to be somewhat noisy!. Fraser and Neave supplied the ice, beer and ginger beer (for shandies). This was taken out by car in a galvanized tin bath together with a couple of dozen enamel mugs.
1941 – Last KLHHH pre-war hash was held on December 12, two weeks after the Japanese invasion.
1942 – At around 4 a.m. on February 11, 1942, founder “G”, in charge of amortar platoon, was surprised and killed by Japanese forces on Dairy Farm Road, Singapore.

The chapter was revived on December 12, 1984, and in 1992 ( after more than 500 runs) Intergrated with neighbouring Milan HHH. This great tradition continues as Royal Milan & Bordighera HHH.

1962 – Hash # 3 Ian Cu***ng established Hash House Harriers Singapore as the second chapter outside KL. Nobody at that time knew about the Italian connection. This dedication has provided hashers the world over with useful information to help promote hashing in their territories. The database is used for launching Interhash bids, mailing announcements and promotional bulletins since April 1984. These important communication links continue to make more and more hashers (and now bashers) become aware of each others’ events, celebration runs and activities.
