What is AMSA UMS? Asian Medical Students’ Association – Universiti Malaysia Sabah is a student organization based in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UMS. We provide a launching platform for student-based activities with other student bodies and acting as a bridge linking our medical students with the outside world, including local and international communities. By organizing and parti

cipating in various exciting activities including public health events, student exchange programs, international conferences, seminars and talks, this organization provides a platform for students to learn beyond the walls of the classrooms. As the motto of AMSA UMS goes, “Knowledge, Action, Friendship”, we believe in giving back to society, through our public health events; we strive in improving cooperation and understanding between medical students within and outside of Malaysia via student exchange programs and international conferences. And, most importantly, we make friends along the way: in cooperating and collaborating with various medical-related governmental or non-governmental agencies throughout the region. Under the umbrella of AMSA International, a dynamic partner in numerous humanitarian-based projects that liaises with the World Health Organization and other big players, AMSA UMS officially joined AMSA Malaysia in 2006. We have ambitious plans in bringing our organization to greater heights and establishing ourselves as the peak representative organization for the medical students of this university. We have always, and will continue to, provide the valuable opportunities for our members to gain sufficient experiences before stepping into the society as the health leaders of tomorrow. But first, before anything, what is an activity if it is without support from people around us? Thus we would like your support and ideas in the activities and events held by us, as it would be the most valuable thing we could ever gain in all of our projects. 📌What is HPV & WHY should you join this cervical cancer forum? 📌

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a very common virus that is mainly transmitted through skin-to-skin sexual contact. Persistent HPV infection is the leading cause of cervical cancer in women. Early awareness, screening, and vaccination can significantly reduce the risk.

Here are some reasons why you should join the forum:
1. We help raise awareness about HPV, its transmission, and its link to cervical cancer.
2. We can empower ourselves and others with knowledge about cervical cancer risk factors, helping us better recognize and prevent potential risks.
3. We promote the importance of early detection through regular screening, such as Pap smears and HPV testing.
