✨ Gastrectomy Workshop 2026 – Hospital Queen Elizabeth ✨

On 5th–6th August 2026, the Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Unit, in collaboration with Sabah Surgical Society (SSS) and Medtronic, successfully organized the annual Gastrectomy Workshop at Hospital Queen Elizabeth.

👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ With 22 participants and 7 hands-on trainees, the workshop provided an invaluable platform for surgeons to enhance their skills in minimally invasive gastric surgery.

📚 Highlights included lectures on:

-Prehabilitation

-Immunotherapy in gastric cancer

T-ips & tricks in gastrectomy

🔪 The most anticipated session was the hands-on live surgery, where participants gained direct experience under the guidance of expert facilitators.

This workshop not only strengthened surgical expertise but also fostered future collaborations in advancing gastrointestinal surgery.

🌟 3rd Safe Chemoport Workshop 2026🌟
On April 1–2, 2026, Hospital Queen Elizabeth I proudly hosted the 3rd Safe Chemoport Workshop at HQE1. This intensive program brought together 28 dedicated participants from across Northern Sabah, including Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Keningau, Beaufort, Kota Marudu, and UMS.

💻 Day 1: Online lecture sessions covered the fundamentals of safe chemoport insertion, featuring expert insights from Datuk Dr Benjamin Leong

🩺 Day 2: Hands-on training with live demonstrations, ultrasound-guided techniques, and practical simulations supported by BD Powerport sets.

The workshop successfully bridged theory and practice, boosting clinical confidence and enhancing patient care outcomes.

👏 A heartfelt thank you to our Datuk Benjamin Leong, Mr Thanesh Kumar Maiyauen, Ms Jane, Dr William and Dr Najihah, Ms Zoe and BD company for their help in achieving success in this event.

Together, we continue to strengthen surgical excellence in Sabah.

✨ Event Highlight: HKM Workshop 2026 ✨
28 March 2026

Hospital Kota Marudu hosted the Basic Suturing, CVL & Chest Tube Workshop at Dewan Sri Posisang.

👩‍⚕️ 20 participants from Kota Marudu, Kota Belud, Kudat & Pitas joined this full-day, hands-on training led by expert faculty from HKM & HQE.

🔹 Sessions covered suturing techniques, CVL insertion, and chest tube placement.

🤝 Supported by B. Braun & BD, the workshop boosted clinical confidence and strengthened emergency care skills in Northern Sabah.

The day ended with a refreshing hike to Mundan Hill 🌿 — a perfect close to a successful event!
