b. Two main projects : Donation of Laparoscopic Surgery Equipment to USM (1997) and the Haemodialysis Centre at Jalan Telipot (completed in 2000) cost more than RM1 million. Second project is the Jalan Sultan Yahya Swimming pool at the School complex, Wakaf Mek Zainab. Our club initiated and helped to establish 2 handicapped centres namely Workshop for the handicapped at Jalan Bayam and The Day Care Centre of Spastic Children at Kemumin, Pengkalan Chepa. The club also helped to establish a Recreation and Resources Centre at Kg. Langgar in the prevention of drugs abuse Aids (2001). The club contributed 17 PVS wheelchairs to handicapped person in 1988 and cosponsored another 30 wheelchairs from United States in 2004. Built 4 units in one block old folk's homes in Bachok, one unit in Pasir Mas in 1986 and another in Kota Bharu 2003. In education our club spent more than RM100,000 through the years in form of education grant provide under YM Tg. Mohd Hamzah Education Aids. The club contributed school uniforms, stationery, school bags and shoes to the poor students in more than 30 schools. In 1994 the club established the Sultan Ismail Petra Scholarship named after our Royal Patron for needy students to pursue tertiary education. The initial fund of RM 100,000 was raised from Rotarian and the public. Rotary club of kota Bharu had hosted three Rotary International District Assemblies in 1961, 9167 and 1983. Rotarian delegates to the Assembly included all Rotary Clubs in Malaysia and countries in Rotary Districts then, namely Singapore, Thailand and Brunei.
