In Memory of Our Concerned Graduate

It is with profound sadness that Concerned UM Indian Graduates (CUMIG) extends our heartfelt condolences on the passing of our concerned graduate, Mr. Jayapavan s/o Kathalingam.

A proud Universiti Malaya graduate of 1990, Mr. Jayapavan pursued Mechanical Engineering and went on to build a distinguished career with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), beginning his professional journey at the Cameron Highlands Power Station. He later served as a Senior Engineer at TNB Remaco, contributing his knowledge and expertise to the field of repair and maintenance.

Beyond his professional achievements, he was also remembered as a good football player, reflecting his passion for sports and an active life.

A few years ago, he embarked on a new chapter, following another passion by establishing his own tuition centre, where he dedicated himself to teaching Mathematics and Science to secondary school students. Through education, he continued to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of young people.

His journey—from a UM graduate and engineer to an educator—reflects a life of learning, service, and contribution. As a fellow graduate, his passing is deeply felt by our wider UM Indian graduate community.

We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones. May the Almighty grant him eternal peace and give his family strength and comfort during this difficult time.

Though he has departed from our sight, his memory and contributions will remain in our hearts.

Om Namasivaya 🙏🏾

With deepest sympathy,
Concerned UM Indian Graduates (CUMIG)

Concerned UM Indian Graduates (CUMIG) succesfully organized MATRIKS SCIENCE online workshop under our CUMIG teachers group guided by CIKGU K. V. ASHOK (Guru Cemerlang Sains). The programme benefitted teachers and students.

The dedicated session was designed to assist them to answer with confidence in their upcoming exam.

💡 Throughout the workshop, students were exposed to:
🔹 Decode the Question — understand different question formats
🔹 Think Scientifically — identify SPS elements such as variables, observation & conclusions
🔹 Answer with Strategy — learn how to approach questions systematically
🔹 Avoid Common Mistakes — recognise what examiners are looking for
🔹 Exam Smart Tips — apply techniques while working through actual question sets

The programme received a remarkable response from parents, reflecting the growing need for focused preparation and confidence-building before MATRIKS.

We also took this opportunity to introduce to our parents about our Kathir Project Concepts and spirit behind the model. More programmes will be arranged for these students in alignment with the spirit behind our Kathir initiatives.
