Ashaari Rahmat is an environmental practitioner, project coordinator, and permaculture design professional with over 15 years of experience in regenerative agriculture, ecological restoration, and community-based environmental education. He holds a Permaculture Design Certificate (PRI) and has worked across grassroots, institutional, and corporate settings, translating permaculture principles into practical, context-specific design solutions.
Ashaari has extensive experience in permaculture and regenerative design, including site analysis, masterplanning, soil regeneration, agroforestry, aquaponics, and nature-based solutions. As Co-Founder and General Manager of Poptani Asia, he led the design and implementation of over 30 urban farming and sustainability projects, delivering functional, user-centred designs for homes, schools, communities, and organisations. His design work focuses on creating resilient systems that integrate ecology, food production, education, and social impact.
Ashaari also coordinates national environmental programmes and grant initiatives focused on community climate resilience and ecosystem restoration. He has led environmental education initiatives, supported large-scale restoration efforts, and worked closely with government agencies, NGOs, educators, and local communities. As a PDC trainer, he brings a strong design-led, systems-thinking approach, equipping participants with the skills to move from concept to implementable permaculture designs in real-world contexts.
