When most people were sleeping… the journey home had not even begun.
At 6:30 AM, a convoy of Lions volunteers departed Kota Kinabalu with one mission —
to reach families stranded by floods in the remote areas of Pitas and Paitan.
Village after village.
Long roads.
Mud, water, and darkness.
But the teams kept going.
Because people were waiting.
Just days earlier, the floods had already impacted:
• 4,761 evacuees
• 1,828 families
• 79 villages across Northern Sabah
With support from the District 308-A2 Foundation Emergency Fund, and together with PUMM Sabah, JCI Kota Kinabalu, Lions Clubs and generous sponsors, relief supplies were mobilised immediately.
Throughout the day and late into the night, volunteers delivered essential food packs directly to affected communities.
📦 767 families received food packs
👥 28 volunteers on the ground
🚛 2 logistics lorries
🛻 6 four-wheel drive vehicles
The final village was reached in the evening.
Only after every pack had been delivered did the convoy begin the long journey home.
The team finally reached home at around 2:00 AM.
Nearly 20 hours on the road.
Not for recognition.
Not for publicity.
But because someone out there needed help.
