Juara Turtle Project is a conservation and research center on Tioman Island, Malaysia. Our main activities are research and survey data collection, education, support of environmentally considerate development and tourism, and hands-on protection of sea turtles and their nests. We are a small and private organization that works intimately with volunteers and supporting organizations to try and progress the situation for the sea turtles and natural habitats here on Tioman.

JTP has been collaborating with a range of artists 🎨 this season, bringing fresh perspectives and creative energy to the mix. Among these collaborations are some charming and thoughtfully crafted designs by , whose expertise in logo creation and illustration brings about a fresh and imaginative look.

Her work adds a playful yet refined visual identity to the collection, elevating the overall aesthetic. These pieces reflect her distinctive style, resulting in designs that feel both contemporary and timeless. Together, these collaborations highlight JTP’s commitment to creativity and pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.

We’re excited to share that this year we are partnering with - a youth-led environmental and community action programme in Malaysia that empowers young people to help people, animals, and the environment 🌱

Through this partnership, we are offering both volunteering and internship opportunities for youth who are passionate about creating a change.

Applications are currently open to individuals aged 18-30 until 10 April 2026 at 6PM.

If you are eager to contribute, learn, and be part of a meaningful initiative, we encourage you to apply and join us in making a difference.

Our first post-emergence inspection of 2026 has been successfully completed.

This nest was a surprise discovery, laid in December during the monsoon period. After allowing sufficient time for natural emergence, we conducted a systematic excavation to assess hatching success and collect essential data.

Each inspection provides valuable insights into reproductive success, nest conditions, and overall seasonal trends. Even nests laid during challenging monsoon conditions contribute important information to strengthen our conservation and monitoring efforts.

SURPRISE! 🪄
Something magical happened a few days ago, when a kind local informed us on sea turtle hatchlings emergence right in front of the project site.

They are hawksbill turtle hatchlings which we estimated to have been laid in the huge waves of December.

What a dedicated mother to be nesting during monsoon season with its small body.

If you see anything related to turtles, reach out to us and we’ll do our best to help them.

💪🏼 Minimum age of 18 (younger volunteers from age ten may be accepted with parent/chaperone).
💪🏼 A passion for marine life
💪🏼 Strong work ethics
💪🏼 Willingness to adapt to various tasks

Packages start from RM3,000/pax/two weeks and include accommodation and meals (except on Saturday)

PRE SEASON 2026

This month only, JTP has welcomed four volunteers to prepare us in welcoming the sea turtles and more volunteers!

We cleaned, arranged, fixed, and sorted our conservation center together with great teamwork.

We also took some skills on basic dive gears servicing as well as hydroponics farming by one of our project partner, Pulau Harvest.

Looking forward to another wonderful season with great people this year!

On March 4th, we’re going to be participating in a webinar organised by Orenda Learning, discussing the importance of genuine connection and long-term commitment in community partnerships; examining the journey of The Juara Turtle Project and Little Planet as they approach twenty years based in Kg. Juara on Tioman Island, Malaysia.
