5 September 2026 Meeting

We had a mixture of guests and members in the meeting. Some key points highlighted by the speakers were: journey is more important than the destination, retirement is an opportunity to rediscover yourself.

Some interesting quotations by speakers were: personal story is magic because it touches people's hearts, life stories always have enlightment.

Apart from learning speaking and leardership roles in Toastmasters, there's always some good interesting key points and quotations to take home from Toastmasters meetings.

If a regular meeting can be so interesting, then the upcoming OUM Toastmasters Humourous Speech and Table Topics Contest on 26 September is probably much more! Do note it on your calendar and hope to see you there!

🎓 Club Officer Training | 22 Aug '26

4 of the OUM Toastmasters Club committees decided to attend Club Officer Training at HELP University, learning the basics of our club roles in typical lecture halls like university students. 📚😄

In the last session, the speaker talked about the different brands like Apple and Volvo, which the audience were able to share some similar answers (high quality products for Apple, safety for Volvo). For Toastmasters brand, most thought "public speaking" were in the motto, but the answer is "Where Leaders are Made." 😲

Although the training is about the basics, there were new things learnt like the motto which surprised many of us there. We also got to know other Toastmasters frorm other clubs too and learn from their experiences. 🤝💬

It was a fruitful training and nice to be together despite all of our busy schedules; achievement unlocked! 😄🏆

Big turn out on 15 August meeting (with guests!): achievement unlocked!

As usual, at OUM Toastmasters Club, you have to "Open Ur Mind" and "Open Ur Mouth" (some speakers use those as OUM accronym 😆). It looked like every came to the meeting open minded and spoke.

Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and contributed to making Meeting #290 a fun and great meeting. And also special thanks to our General Evaluator, Ling En Han (Phoenix TMC), for joining our meeting and providing feedback including comment on the club's social media 😆. There're some things you don't expect General Evaluator to notice but this was the most unexpected!

Thank you again for coming to our meeting. Hope to see you all again in the next meeting!

Theme: Unleashing Potential

In this meeting, some speakers have named OUM as "Open Your Mouth," "Open Your Mind." Perhaps our future name now we're not meeting at OUM? 😏

This meeting could be summarised with the speakers' quotes:
"Want to be a better version of your self? The stage is yours." (Suga).
"The biggest enemy of your achievement is comfort. (JP).
"Never doubt your ability, never limit yourself. The gift you are looking for may already be in you.” (Lena)
