Grateful to MOV Hotel KL for choosing to engage with our Nature Education project as their CSR efforts this year, and we are even more thankful to Yayasan Kelab-Kelab Rotary Malaysia for their support as a project partner in offering tax exemption to our corporate partner. We look forward to more collaborations like this; with more teamwork and resources, we will surely be able to accelerate the next generation's learning about ecological harmony to pave the way for a greener future.

[26 Apr 2026] We were proud to be part of the World Earth Day celebration at Rotary Peace Park, alongside participation from more than 30 clubs and a strong turnout of 180 Rotarians from across the District. The event reflects a growing momentum, with promising prospects for further development, especially with the promotion and support of the Selangor Tourism Board.

In conjunction with this meaningful gathering, our members took part in planting bamboo trees as a practical step toward reforesting the park. Bamboo, known for its fast growth and soil-regenerating properties, plays a role in stabilising land, improving water retention, and creating conditions for biodiversity to return over time. This effort is not just about planting trees, but about restoring ecosystems and rebuilding natural balance.

The occasion was graced by District Governor Edward Khoo, PDGs Dato Mustapha Ma, PDG Dato Jimmy Lim, PDG Dr. Baskaran, PDG KS Teoh, District Governor-Elect Rajj Nellambram, District Governor-Nominee Dr. Rajkumar, the State Assemblyman of Ijok YB Jeffrey, representatives from the MP’s Office, as well as Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS). The event was further honoured by the presence of Ketua Pengarah LUAS, Ijok ADUN YB Jeffrey, and Selangor Tourism CEO Puan Chua.

As the district’s first environmental cause-based Rotary club, this initiative reflects our continued commitment to regenerative action, restoring biodiversity, strengthening ecosystems, and working collectively with partners and the wider Rotary family toward a more sustainable future.

Last weekend between 24-26 April 2026, our secretary had the privilege of representing the Rotary Club of Hulu Langat Eco at the Food Forest Forum 2026 in UTAR Kampar. This wasn't merely a gathering of enthusiasts; it was a high-level convergence of global and regional practitioners dedicated to a critical mission: rebuilding our food systems through regenerative ecology.

For our work in Hulu Langat, the insights gained here serve as a technical roadmap for helping our village transition toward a more resilient, eco-conscious future.

The forum featured heavyweights in the environmental sector whose work challenges entrenched thinking about how we use land:

🌿 Anthony Sebastian (Keynote Speaker): A "problem-solving ecologist" with over 40 years of experience, Anthony delivered a sobering yet empowering message: Forests are not separate from food systems; they are foundational to them. His focus on "systems thinking" across ecology and policy provided us with a framework to view Hulu Langat’s agricultural landscape as a holistic ecosystem rather than just individual farms.

🌿 Justine Vaz (CEO of The Habitat Foundation): In her session, “Growing the Future: Scaling Up Our Food Forest Mission,” Justine addressed the exact challenge we face locally, moving from small, isolated initiatives to landscape-level impact. Her expertise in environmental education reinforced our belief that our community’s destiny is shared with the ecosystems we protect.

🌿 Global Perspectives: Learning from the likes of Jon Jandai, Geoff Lawton, and Martin Crawford, pioneers who have spent decades perfecting syntropic and permaculture systems, offered a glimpse into how seasoned farms successfully manage high-value crops alongside indigenous wisdom.

🕊️ AND CONGRATS ON THE LAUNCH OF !!! One of the most significant milestones for our club was the official launch of . This directory is the first of its kind in Malaysia, acting as a "human mycelium" that links nature-based practitioners nationwide.

For Hulu Langat, this means our local eco-initiatives are now plugged into a massive network of support, from seed savers and medicinal plant experts to practitioners like Dongi Kacaw and local Orang Asli knowledge keepers. When our roots connect, our village's potential to thrive grows exponentially.

The 3-day forum covered everything from Forest Pharmacy to Urban Rewilding, but the underlying theme was clear: Resilience is built through community. As we bring these lessons back to our village, we are focused on the "Connected Roots" philosophy. By integrating the technical skills of agroforestry and the traditional wisdom of seed saving, we are not just planting trees, we are building a self-sufficient safety net for our neighbors.

This is more than a forum; it is a movement. We are honored to bring this momentum back to the people of Hulu Langat.

[22 April 2026] Our very own President Veron and Rotarian Cherry Tung had an amazing seat to an evening of inspiration at the “End Polio Now” Charity Concert!

Held at the iconic Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, we were moved by the incredible talent of the SSYO and local vocalists who lent their voices to one of Rotary’s greatest missions. Beyond the beautiful music, the evening was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when District 3300 comes together.

A huge shoutout to the organizing team PAG Dr. Chua, the PolioPlus Committee, and President Dr. Carmen from RC Rotary Club of Rahman Putra for a spectacular and successful event.

At RC Hulu Langat Eco, we remain committed to seeing this fight through to the end. Together, we will End Polio Now. 🤝🌍

On April 11, members of the Rotary Club of Hulu Langat Eco (RCHLE) engaged in a series of vocational visits across Kuala Lumpur, bridging the gap between historical legacy and modern ecological innovation.

The Circular Economy in Practice: The delegation first visited 4Leaf Nursery in Setapak to review the progress of the "TRASHURE GARDEN" initiative. In collaboration with proprietor Yap Jing Zong, RCHLE is addressing a critical gap in Malaysia’s waste management infrastructure: the lack of a systemic "sink" for organic food waste. Unlike traditional methods, Jing Zong’s operation actively retrieves food waste from neighborhood restaurants and households, redirecting organic matter back into the soil to prevent the production of methane gas in landfills. This study serves as a benchmark for RCHLE as they look to scale their own composting efforts in Hulu Langat.

Commemorating a Century of Service: The journey continued to Jalan Medan Tuanku for a visit to Rotary Square. This landmark serves as the official Rotary Club Time Capsule Monument, commemorating over 117 years of Rotary’s global presence and the specific legacy of District 3300 in Malaysia since 1929. The monument, centered by its signature stainless steel column, stands as a testament to the club’s historical relocation from Dataran Merdeka to its current site in the heart of the Chow Kit district.

To conclude the day, we dined at a Japanese-inspired establishment which also served as the venue for a discussion regarding future projects. Our meeting focused on integrating forest-inspired ambiance with community-driven initiatives, marking the final stage of a day dedicated to both reflection and forward-looking strategic planning.

What an empowering weekend for RC Hulu Langat Eco at the KSL Esplanade Hotel! 🏨🙌

We spent April 10–11 diving deep into training and strategic planning for the 2026/2027 Rotary Year. It’s all about strengthening our leadership so we can bring even more heart and action to our community projects.

The weekend culminated in a wonderful President’s Graduation Dinner—a night of celebration as we prepare for our new leadership to take the helm this July 1st. 🎓🥂

It’s more than just an assembly; it’s about the friends we make and the shared vision of service that keeps us moving forward. Stay tuned for what we have in store for the coming year! 🌿💪

Today is the 4th April, and we had the pleasure of welcoming fellow Rotarians from Rotary Club of Cheras to our club farm for a meaningful and refreshing visit.

We took them on a tour around our space, sharing how the farm has been nurtured into a living example of biodiversity, regeneration, and community learning. It was especially heartening to see the children fully immersed in the experience, enjoying close encounters with the animals and freely exploring the natural environment.

Beyond the tour, we also had the opportunity to share more about who we are as District 3300’s first environment cause-based Rotary club, including our ongoing projects, as well as our broader vision and mission in building a more sustainable and resilient community.

The visit was filled with genuine connection, curiosity, and exchange. It was encouraging to see how much our guests appreciated the experience, and we are grateful for the time spent together.

We look forward to more opportunities for collaboration and shared impact.

On 3 April 2026, we successfully carried out an insightful Industry Learning Tour with students from Universiti Malaya, particularly those from engineering and technology backgrounds. This session was not only a vocational visit for our members, but also an initiative organised in collaboration with the students themselves, demonstrating strong initiative and leadership from the next generation.

The visit took place at the public-listed company Powerwell Holdings Berhad, where participants were exposed to:

💡 Malaysia’s power distribution network
🛡 Safety and engineering standards
🔧 Power protection technologies
🏭 A guided factory tour covering fabrication and assembly processes

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Catherine Wong, Managing Director of Powerwell and a fellow member of the Rotary Club of Hulu Langat Eco, for generously opening up the factory for both the students’ field trip and our vocational visit. Her support made this learning experience possible and meaningful.

It was encouraging to see the spirit of curiosity, engagement, and knowledge-sharing among both Rotarians and students. This is very much aligned with our mission of fostering education, industry exposure, and community development.

Recapping a wonderful evening at Dorsett Subang! On March 31st, our members joined the Rotary Club of Petaling Jaya for a joint meeting filled with great food and even better conversation.

A huge thank you to AG Rajiv Matthews for the invite and President David Ong for being such a gracious host!

We loved having the floor to share our humble beginnings and our passion for the environment, from our Fish for All initiative to our TCM herb gardens.

The Highlight of the Night; we bonded over a mutual love for Qigong! We believe deeply in its power for community health, and we are thrilled that RCPJ’s Dr. Chin will be visiting our Hulu Langat farm soon to help us plan a Qigong wellness event for our villagers.

New friends, shared goals, and exciting collaborations on the horizon. This is what Rotary is all about!
