Persatuan Cerebral Palsy Johor NGO offering premiere services for children and young adults with cerebral palsy. In July 1988, the Special Education School shifted to the present building.

Persatuan Cerebral Palsy Johor (JCPA) is one of the organizations in Malaysia which specialises in educating, training, treating and providing special needs for children with Cerebral Palsy (CP). JCPA was formed with the initiative and effort of Dr. Samuel Abraham, a paediatric medical consultant. In June 1967, JCPA was formed with a pro-term Committee consisting of representatives from the Govern

ment Hospital, Department of Welfare, Department of Education, Army and Voluntary Organizations. The aim was the eventual establishment of a day school and therapy centre for children with CP. On April 24th 1968, JCPA was formally registered with the Registrar of Societies. In February 1968, the treatment and education of 8 children began in a borrowed room at the Jubilee Home. In 1969, the State Government permitted the use of an old Government Quarters at Bukit Meldrum. Finally in 1970, the Association was provided with a permanent site at 138, Jalan Dato Menteri through the generosity of the State government. It started with 3 classrooms in the morning and 3 classrooms in the afternoon with 6 teachers. Another milestone reached in 1988 was the Association’s participation, as one of the Founder members, in the National Spastic Children’s Association.

Cerebral Palsy Johor Association (CPJ) extends its highest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to Rotary Club of Johor Bahru for their generous contribution.

This contribution is deeply meaningful in supporting the continuity of development and empowerment programmes for the cerebral palsy community in Johor, in line with CPJ’s commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of this special community.

CPJ welcomes contributions as well as CSR initiatives from all parties to further strengthen support for the cerebral palsy community in Johor.

Diary CPJ: Hydrotherapy for Class 2 Mawar

The implementation of hydrotherapy is one of the intervention approaches carried out to support the development of children with cerebral palsy.

Hydrotherapy helps to reduce muscle spasticity, improve range of motion and movement control, while also building participants’ confidence through activities in a safer and more controlled aquatic environment.

This activity aims to support the physical and emotional development of participants by enhancing mobility, reducing muscle stiffness, and fostering self-confidence as well as social interaction among children with cerebral palsy.

An Occupational Therapy session was conducted by Mr. Wei Kiat from Singapore, focusing on developing head and trunk control through structured therapeutic activities and lower limb training.

The session included guided positioning, postural alignment techniques, and core strengthening exercises to enhance stability and control.

Lower limb training involved assisted weight-bearing, range of motion exercises, and functional movement activities to promote muscle activation and coordination.

Continued therapy is recommended to further improve strength, coordination, and functional independence.

Jamuan Hari Raya Aidilfitri bagi pelajar-pelajar Sekolah Pendidikan Khas Cerebral Palsy Johor telah berlangsung dengan penuh keceriaan dan suasana yang bermakna.

Para pelajar tampil kemas dengan pakaian raya yang indah, menikmati pelbagai juadah istimewa serta bergembira bersama rakan-rakan dan guru-guru yang disayangi.

Keceriaan yang terpancar melalui senyuman mereka merupakan kebahagiaan yang amat bernilai buat kami semua, sekali gus mencerminkan keindahan sambutan Syawal yang penuh dengan kasih sayang dan kesyukuran. ❤️

Pelaksanaan hidroterapi dan terapi berkumpulan merupakan antara pendekatan intervensi yang dijalankan bagi menyokong perkembangan kanak-kanak yang menghidap cerebral palsy.

🏊🏼‍♂️🤽‍♀️Hidroterapi membantu mengurangkan kekejangan otot (spastik), meningkatkan julat serta kawalan pergerakan, di samping membina keyakinan diri peserta melalui aktiviti dalam air yang lebih selamat dan terkawal.

👩‍🦽🎳Manakala, terapi berkumpulan melibatkan aktiviti bersama perantis bengkel yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keupayaan pergerakan serta mengurangkan kekejangan otot melalui latihan yang berstruktur dan interaktif.

Secara keseluruhannya, kedua-dua aktiviti ini adalah bertujuan untuk menyokong perkembangan fizikal dan emosi peserta melalui peningkatan keupayaan pergerakan, pengurangan kekejangan otot, serta pembinaan keyakinan diri dan interaksi sosial dalam kalangan kanak-kanak yang menghidap cerebral palsy.
