A Small Help Can Bring Big Hope

There are moments in life where a simple act of kindness can change the course of a family’s future. Today, we are reaching out for one such family in urgent need.

A mother is doing her best to hold everything together, working tirelessly to provide for her children. Sadly, her husband has been unable to work for the past 6 months due to a serious accident, leaving the family with no stable support system.

Amidst this struggle, the greatest pain comes from the children. Their only wish is simple yet heartbreaking: "We miss school… we want to see our friends… but we don’t know when we can go back."

They are eager to learn, to grow, and to have a normal childhood—but financial constraints have taken that away from them.

Shechinah Association Johor Bahru is stepping in to make a difference. We are committed to supporting these 3 children by covering their school van transportation fees, giving them a chance to return to school and restoring a sense of normalcy in their lives.

A recent visit to the Halfway House offered a meaningful glimpse into the daily lives of the residents, reminding us that beyond providing shelter, it is consistent care, provision, and compassion that truly sustain a home.

We are deeply grateful to every individual and group who has stepped forward to contribute groceries and food supplies. These are not small gestures—they are essential lifelines that ensure no one at our shelter goes without a proper meal. For many, this support brings not just nourishment, but dignity and reassurance that they are not forgotten.

In moments of hardship, kindness becomes the light that carries people forward. Recently, Shechinah Association JB, with the generous support of Mr. Gomes, stepped in to assist a charity home that was affected by a fire—and today, we are truly grateful to share that it has been fully restored.

What was once damaged has now been rebuilt, bringing back not just a safe space, but renewed hope and comfort for those who call it home. This would not have been possible without the spirit of giving and unity shown by everyone involved.

Our committee had the opportunity to visit the home today, witnessing firsthand the completed restoration. It was a deeply meaningful moment, reminding us that when hearts come together, real impact happens.

We also held a short meeting in preparation for our upcoming AGM, while continuing to plan for future programs that will allow us to serve even more communities in need.

Moving forward, we stay committed to making a difference—one step, one act of kindness at a time.

Every life has a story. Some stories fall apart before they are rebuilt again.

In this video, Suresh shares his journey. Due to personal struggles, he fell into addiction and found himself in a very difficult place in life. Like many others in our community, he needed more than advice—he needed a place of restoration, care, and guidance.

That place became Shechinah Home.

Through the support, counselling, and compassionate care provided at Shechinah, Suresh was able to rebuild his life. Today, he stands as a testimony that recovery is possible and that hope can be restored.

But stories like Suresh’s do not happen by accident. They happen because people with compassionate hearts step forward to support this work.

Shechinah Association Johor Bahru continues to provide shelter, guidance, and recovery support for individuals who are struggling and searching for a second chance in life. Many who come through our doors have nowhere else to turn.

A recent fire left the Shalom Ria Old Folks Home unsafe for living, forcing the elderly residents and OKU occupants to be temporarily relocated. It was a difficult time as many vulnerable individuals suddenly lost the comfort and security of the place they called home.

Seeing this urgent need, Shechinah stepped forward with a simple conviction — when there is a need within our reach, we must do what we can. Through the initiative to raise support for the repair works, and with the help of Mr. Gomes, our AJK, a kind-hearted donor came forward to sponsor the restoration work.

Today, we are grateful to share that the repair works are now complete. The home is once again ready, and the elderly and needy residents can return to a safe and proper place to stay.

This reminds us that our mission is not only to care for ourselves, but also to extend compassion to those in need within our capability. As it is written, it is more blessed to give than to receive.

A heartbreaking tragedy has struck a charity home that shelters underprivileged ladies.

Recently, a fire severely damaged the home, leaving these women without a safe and proper place to stay. Many of them have already endured significant hardship, and this incident has further disrupted their fragile sense of security. What was once a place of refuge, dignity, and care now urgently needs restoration.

Shechinah Association Johor Bahru, which closely works with this charity home in sheltering and supporting underprivileged communities, is appealing to the public for help. Having partnered on the ground and witnessed the impact of this ministry firsthand, we are deeply concerned for the immediate and long-term wellbeing of these ladies.

We are calling on individuals, churches, organizations, and corporate partners to step into the gap. Donations in cash or in kind will be channeled toward rebuilding the facility, restoring basic living necessities, and ensuring these women once again have a safe and dignified place to stay.

As the calendar turns to 2026, the SAJB Committee is deliberately closing one chapter and stepping into the next with renewed focus and conviction. We honour the lessons of the past, but we are not anchored to them. This new year is about ex*****on, impact, and measurable change on the ground.

Our roadmap for 2026 is already in motion, starting strong with the Back to School Program, ensuring children begin the year equipped with dignity and hope. This is followed by the Rohingya Medical Outreach, where compassion meets action through practical healthcare support for a vulnerable community.

Beyond that, we are rolling out a series of community development initiatives, including sustained engagement with the Orang Asli communities, focusing not on handouts, but on long-term upliftment.

This is a year of alignment and momentum. Plans have been set, teams are mobilised, and the intent is clear: to serve with purpose, consistency, and integrity. Together, we move forward—grounded in values, bold in vision, and committed to making 2026 a year where impact speaks louder than words.
