🌈 Rainbow of Gratitude Luncheon
A Heartfelt Gathering for Healthcare Heroes, Children, and Families

In an atmosphere filled with gratitude and compassion, the Lions Club of JB Austin successfully hosted the “Rainbow of Gratitude Luncheon” at Ponderosa Golf & Country Club.
More than just a luncheon, it was a deeply meaningful gathering—bringing together healthcare professionals, young patients, families, police representatives, volunteers, and community members to celebrate the strength of love, resilience, and hope.
💛 Honouring Healthcare Heroes · Walking with the Children
This special luncheon was dedicated to the medical teams from Hospital Sultan Ismail (HSI)—particularly the Pediatric Oncology and Nephrology departments—as well as children battling cancer and kidney-related illnesses, together with their families.
The event welcomed approximately 170 participants, including:

The luncheon was chaired by Club President Mok Wei Kheng, with Agnes Lee Sze Yah serving as Organising Chairperson.
The event was gracefully emceed by Serene Low and Harsweetha, who guided the programme with warmth and sincerity.
Every aspect of the event—from programme flow to thoughtful details—was designed with the children and healthcare teams at its core, reflecting the club’s long-standing commitment to childhood cancer care.
🎤 Messages of Gratitude & Hope
In his speech, President Mok Wei Kheng shared that the “Rainbow of Gratitude” is more than a luncheon—it is a gathering that carries appreciation, care, and hope.
He highlighted that healthcare professionals not only treat illnesses with expertise but also comfort children and families with patience and empathy, becoming a pillar of strength for many.
Organising Chairperson Agnes Lee Sze Yah expressed that the true meaning of the event lies not in the programme or the meal, but in the coming together of hearts with a shared purpose.
She described the children as “Rainbow Fighters”, adding:
> “Their smiles and courage, even in the face of pain, are the light that inspires us all.”
Vice District Governor Lion Law Poh Chin emphasised that childhood cancer is a key global service focus of Lions Clubs International.
He noted that Lions play an important role beyond the medical system—offering emotional support and companionship so that families do not feel alone during their journey.
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the HSI medical team for their unwavering dedication and compassion.

On behalf of Dr. Che Hadibiah, Dr. Ng expressed deep appreciation for the luncheon.
He shared that such gestures of gratitude and support are incredibly meaningful to healthcare teams, encouraging them in their daily work and reminding them that their efforts are seen and valued.
Dr. Ng also acknowledged the Rainbow House initiative by the Lions Club of JB Austin, which provides free accommodation and support for outstation families—significantly easing both financial and emotional burdens during treatment.
He described it as a vital and compassionate partner to the healthcare system.

The event received generous in-kind sponsorships and contributions, including cupcakes, keychains, pastel art gifts, cash vouchers, and children’s art items.
Leo members actively participated in distributing gifts and capturing precious moments.
Support came from corporate sponsors, Lions clubs, and individual families—each contribution a meaningful expression of kindness and care.

Rainbow of Gratitude is not just a one-day event—
it is part of the ongoing Childhood Cancer Care Project by the Lions Club of JB Austin.
Through this initiative, the club hopes to share a simple but powerful message:
