Johor Plantations Group (JPG) and Yayasan JCorp successfully organised the 1 Million Roots for the Future (1MRFF) – Growing Together: Trees for Schools programme at Sungai Johor Eco Retreat (SUNJER), Basir Ismail Estate, from 8 to 9 August 2026.

The programme was officiated by Encik Wan Adlin Wan Mahmood, Head of Commercial & Sustainability Division, JPG, and attended by Puan Rosita Md Ali, Senior Manager, Yayasan JCorp; Tuan Haji Kamaruddin Mohd Ali, Deputy District Education Officer of Kulai (Student Development), Kulai District Education Office; and Puan Halimahton Ab Gapar, Senior Associate, Johor Sustainability Centre.

Continuing the tree-planting mission in the Kulai District, a total of 9,800 plants were distributed to 29 schools across Kulai, as well as the Kulai District Education Office. Beyond greening school environments, the initiative aims to bring environmental action closer to students and educators, encouraging them to play an active role in caring for the environment.

Students and teachers also came together at the 1MRFF site in Basir Ismail Estate to plant 20 trees, putting into practice the environmental values and shared responsibility championed through the programme.

Beyond tree planting, participants took part in interactive workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions on Sustainability & Climate Change, Waste-to-Wealth, Religion and the Environment, and Biodiversity. The sessions provided participants with practical knowledge and a broader understanding of how everyday actions can contribute to environmental sustainability.

Through Growing Together: Trees for Schools, the 1MRFF mission goes beyond planting trees. It is about cultivating environmental awareness among the next generation and empowering schools to become part of a collective effort towards a more sustainable future.

Together, we are planting roots today for a greener tomorrow.

Strengthening Teachers’ Competencies, Improving Students’ English Proficiency

Yayasan JCorp, in collaboration with the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ), organised the Training of Trainers (TOT): B1 Booster – Ace Your SPM English Module 2026 programme on 28 and 29 July 2026 at Hotel Seri Malaysia, Larkin, Johor Bahru.

A total of 40 teachers from 40 schools across Johor participated in the programme to improve the effectiveness of English language teaching through module-based training, coordination sessions (what coordination sessions?) with English Language SISC+(specify what is SISC+) officers and the sharing of targeted intervention strategies.

Developed in alignment with the National SPM English curriculum and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the module will benefit 1,200 students through Yayasan JCorp’s English Tuition Project throughout this year.

The module handover ceremony was officiated by Tuan Haji Noor Rahilme bin Mohamed Noor, Senior Principal Assistant Director of the Learning Sector, JPNJ. Also present were Encik Shahrazali Sahlan, Manager of Yayasan JCorp, and Puan Feizatie Erviena Abdul Aziz, English Language SISC+ Officer from the Tangkak District Education Office.
