02 Kinta Scout Troop Scout troop of St. Michael's Institution. Founded in 1987, 60 years after scouting was first introduced SMI. A formation of the 29th Kinta and 24th Kinta Troop. E.

Scouting in St. Michael’s Institution dates back all the way to the 1920s. Introduced in 1927 by Mr. Yeoh Cheang Boh, Scouting in St. Michael’s Ipoh has since grew into one of the most well known scout troop in Ipoh. Under the guidance of scoutmasters Mr. Chye Kah Loke and Mr E. Fitzpatrick, scouting flourished in the school. Back then, we were called the 4th and 3rd Ipoh Troop. By 1962, the scout

ing movement in St. Michael’s Ipoh consisted of the 29th, 9th and the 24th Ipoh Group and producing a total of 31 King Scouts simultaneously under the guidance of Master Thomas Choo. In 1987, the 29th and 24th Ipoh Group was combined and thus, the 02 Kinta Scout Troop was born. Since then, the 02 Kinta Scout Troop has proved itself to be one of the most renowned troops in Ipoh with guidance of many Scoutmasters. Most notably our very own Master Timothy Chee. Celebrating BP’s Day today was more than just activities it was about remembering the values that Robert Baden-Powell taught through Scouting. They have endured all trials and tribulations that has been given to them expertly and will learn from all the mistakes that may have happened.

A truly meaningful and unforgettable day for all of us. Every certificate we received represents hard work, discipline, teamwork, and the long journey we’ve taken in scouting.

From drill practices, outdoor activities, badge tests, to community projects — every step shaped who we are today. 💪🔥

Huge thanks to our leaders, teachers, and fellow scouts who have supported us throughout this journey. This isn’t just an award — it’s a reminder of our responsibilities and the start of an even greater path in scouting. 🧭

One the day ,3rd February was the first step of our Form 1 students into the world of Scouting, and it is a journey that will be full of discipline, teamwork, and adventure!

From being introduced to basic briefing, our Form 1 students were led by our seniors on a journey of discovery of our traditions, values, and spirit as a troop. They also got to see our scout den, badges and awards, and even a peek at our trophies that symbolize hard work and unity!

Out on the field, there was a lot of energy as our Form 1 students tried out simple activities and got to interact with our seniors, getting a glimpse of what it means to be part of the scout brotherhood and sisterhood!

A new batch of young scouts has officially begun their adventure, and we can’t wait to see them grow! ⚜️💚
