Scouting in St. Michael’s Institution dates back all the way to the 1920s. Introduced in 1927 by Mr. Yeoh Cheang Boh, Scouting in St. Michael’s Ipoh has since grew into one of the most well known scout troop in Ipoh. Under the guidance of scoutmasters Mr. Chye Kah Loke and Mr E. Fitzpatrick, scouting flourished in the school. Back then, we were called the 4th and 3rd Ipoh Troop. By 1962, the scout
ing movement in St. Michael’s Ipoh consisted of the 29th, 9th and the 24th Ipoh Group and producing a total of 31 King Scouts simultaneously under the guidance of Master Thomas Choo. In 1987, the 29th and 24th Ipoh Group was combined and thus, the 02 Kinta Scout Troop was born. Since then, the 02 Kinta Scout Troop has proved itself to be one of the most renowned troops in Ipoh with guidance of many Scoutmasters. Most notably our very own Master Timothy Chee.
