We are a group of people who are passionate about pushing the limits, in terms of public speaking. Fear of public speaking has been ranked as second greatest fear. At a funeral, the average person would rather be in the casket than giving the eulogy. We believe great things happen when you are able to speak fluently, delivering your ideas clearly, express your vision & evoke the emotions of your audience. That is already half the battle won, in your career and in your life. Our Gurney-Hydro family is growing! 😊

Please join me in warmly welcoming Professor Dr. Seelan, who has just committed to joining our club. His son, Navidt, is already part of our Gurney-Hydro family, and we’re happy to have his father joining us too!

As an experienced professional trainer, Dr. Seelan brings knowledge and experience that we can learn from. We look forward to learning, growing and contributing to the community together.

This coming Wednesday, we’ll induct Dr. Seelan as our newest member, and he’ll also deliver his Icebreaker speech. 👏

🎤 11 HOURS. 3 ASSIGNMENTS. 1 LIVE PRESENTATION LAB. AND A WHOLE LOT OF GROWTH.

What happens when a group of people decides to spend an entire day getting better at one thing?

They show up. They challenge themselves. They practise. They learn. They laugh. And they leave better than when they arrived. 💪✨

From 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, our participants went through three assignments + one intensive Live Presentation Lab—and the Live Lab was definitely one of the highlights!

🎯 This wasn't just a practice presentation.

Participants brought their REAL work presentations into the room and presented them to our volunteer coaches.

Then came the real value:

🔎 How strong is your opening?
💡 Is your key message clear?
📊 Are your slides helping—or distracting?
🎤 How effective is your delivery?
🎯 Does your closing leave an impact?

Our coaches gave specific, practical feedback that participants could take straight back to work and apply to their next presentation.

And of course...

There was plenty of learning, laughter, encouragement and "aha!" moments along the way. 😄

One comment from Zuriani of Keysight Toastmasters Club pretty much summed up the experience:

A Race Against the Philippines
In a fascinating historical twist, the Philippines came very close to taking the name first.

Politicians in Manila had fiercely debated renaming their country to "Malaysia" to reflect their regional Malay heritage.

However, the federation of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak, and Singapore officially adopted and registered the name first in September 1963, forcing the Philippines to drop the idea.
