On 5 August 2026, we welcomed students from INTI International College Penang and SEGi College Penang for an engaging “Professional Greetings in Hospitality” session at The Prestige Hotel Penang, held in conjunction with PCEB’s BE Associate Programme. Hosted by The Prestige Hotel Penang and led by BE Igniter Mr Kritharan Palanisamy, Reception Manager, the session provided students with valuable exposure to professional guest engagement and hospitality practices.

The session explored the importance of creating positive first impressions through professional greetings, guest arrival experiences, check-in procedures, ushering, effective communication, and hospitality etiquette. Through interactive activities and role-playing exercises, students had the opportunity to apply these skills in realistic hospitality scenarios while building their confidence, teamwork, and interpersonal communication.

MyAnaesthesia 2026, organised by the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists (MSA), was successfully held from 31 July to 2 August 2026 at the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC).

The opening ceremony was graced by Datuk Dr Mahathar bin Abd Wahab, Director-General of Health Malaysia, alongside Dato’ Dr Yong Chow Yen, President of the College of Anaesthesiologists, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia and Organising Co-Chairperson of MSA & CoA ASC 2026, as well as Dr Hasmizy Muhammad, President of the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists and Organising Chairperson of MSA & CoA ASC 2026.

The theme “The Future of Anaesthesia: Safe, Sustainable, and Intelligent” highlights the importance of advancing patient care through clinical excellence, environmentally responsible practices, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, and digital health technologies to support better decision-making.

A site inspection was conducted at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), led by Ms. Sanny, General Manager of BNDCC. The visit provided an opportunity to explore the venue's world-class facilities and gain insights into its operational capabilities and event infrastructure.

During the visit, PCEB and BNDCC also held a discussion on potential areas of collaboration. As a member of The Asia Venue Alliance (AVA), BNDCC shared insights into the alliance's initiatives, while both parties exchanged ideas on future collaboration and partnership opportunities.

YAB Dato’ Seri Utama Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, graced the official re-opening ceremony of the historic Fort Cornwallis on 26 July 2026, marking a significant milestone in the preservation of Penang’s rich heritage.

The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including YAB Chow Kon Yeow 曹觀友, Chief Minister of Penang; YB Wong Hon Wai 黄汉伟, State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy; Dato’ Hamdan Abdul Majeed, Managing Director of Think City; Dato' Ir. Rajendran P. Anthony, Mayor of Penang Island City Council; Datin Bharathi, General Manager of Chief Minister Incorporated; and other invited guests.

The preservation and revitalisation of heritage landmarks such as Fort Cornwallis go beyond beautifying the city. It reflects a collective effort to restore and safeguard the historical narratives, cultural identity, and legacy that have shaped Penang and the nation.

The Building Tomorrow’s Hospitality Leaders interactive session was successfully held in conjunction with the BE Associate Programme on 15 July 2026 at DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang, hosted by DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang. Led by BE Igniter Ms. Jayanthi Appu, Human Resource Manager, the session provided students with a closer look into the hospitality industry, focusing on leadership, service excellence, and the people behind successful hotel operations.

The programme welcomed 12 participants from INTI International University & Colleges Penang, comprising 11 students and one lecturer. Through an interactive session and guided property tour, students explored various hotel departments, observed operational practices, and gained a better appreciation of how different teams collaborate to create memorable guest experiences.

The Your Career VS AI: Who Wins? forum was successfully held in conjunction with the BE Associate Programme on 24 June 2026 in collaboration with SENTRAL College Penang. The forum featured BE Igniter Mr. Ben Ho, General Manager of Lexis Suites Penang, alongside industry professionals from the logistics, accounting, hospitality, and IT sectors, who shared their perspectives on how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the future of work.

The forum welcomed 125 participants, comprising 114 students and six lecturers from SENTRAL College Penang. Through engaging panel discussions and interactive sharing sessions, students gained valuable insights into AI trends, digital transformation, and the opportunities and challenges presented by emerging technologies across different industries.

The Hospitality Information System in Tourism session was successfully held in conjunction with the BE Associate Programme on 22 June 2026 in collaboration with UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang. Led by BE Igniter Mr. Adrian Praveen, Hospitality Consultant at Arrowood International, the session explored the role of technology and information systems in supporting operations and driving innovation within the tourism and hospitality industry.

The session attracted 125 participants, comprising 120 students and five lecturers from UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang. Students were introduced to key hospitality technologies, including reservation systems, property management systems (PMS), customer relationship management (CRM), and data-driven decision-making, while gaining insights into how these digital solutions enhance operational efficiency and guest experiences.

Through practical industry sharing and interactive discussions, participants developed a stronger understanding of the importance of digital competencies in the evolving tourism and hospitality landscape.

The Smart Events, Smart Future Talk: Technology in the MICE Industry was successfully held in conjunction with the BE Associate Programme on 18 June 2026 in collaboration with SEGi College Penang. The session, led by BE Igniter Mr. Balashangaran A/L Karuppiah, Senior Executive of Digital Transformation, introduced students to the growing role of technology and digital innovation in shaping the future of the Business Events industry.

The talk welcomed 59 participants, comprising 55 students and four lecturers from SEGi College Penang. The Hotel Industry Educational Exposure Visit was successfully held in conjunction with the BE Associate Programme on 16 June 2026 at Royale Chulan Penang. Hosted by Royale Chulan Penang and led by BE Igniter Ms. Nazira Othman, Human Resource Manager, the visit provided students with first-hand exposure to the hospitality industry and its day-to-day operations.

The programme welcomed eight participants from INTI International College Penang, comprising seven students and one lecturer. Students were taken on a guided tour of the hotel's key facilities and operational departments, gaining valuable insights into hotel operations, service standards, and the collaborative efforts required to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

The “Introduction to Business Events in Malaysia” seminar was successfully held in conjunction with the BE Associate Programme on 19 May 2026, hosted by St. Giles Wembley Penang. Led by BE Igniter Mr. Adrian Praveen, the session provided students with valuable insights into the Business Events industry, highlighting career opportunities, industry exposure, and lessons from his professional journey.

The seminar brought together 37 participants from UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang, SENTRAL College Penang, and SEGi College Penang. Through engaging presentations and interactive group activities, students gained a better understanding of the realities of working in the Business Events and hospitality industries while developing teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

The session was further enriched by a sharing from St. Giles Hotels’ Human Resources representative, Ms. Nur Syafiqah, who provided practical guidance on interview preparation, workplace expectations, and the qualities employers look for in fresh graduates and interns. The programme reflects PCEB’s ongoing commitment through the BE Associate Programme to nurture future industry talent and strengthen Penang’s Business Events workforce.
